If you take admission after diploma then you will get admission directly into second year of engineering. According to the UGC and AICTE rules, you can get admission to the second year of degree engineering based on your performance in Diploma Engineering (Polytechnic).
Eligibility for B.Tech Lateral Entry:
For Diploma Holders: Must have passed qualifying examination from an AICTE approved institution with at least 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category). Also these students should clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics/Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics of the first year engineering programme along with second year subjects.

The Eligibility of B.tech Civil Lateral Entry is Pass with 60% aggregate marks in Diploma (Engineering) (any stream) 3 years after 10th or 2 yrs. after 10+2 (Non-Medical) or Diploma in Architectural Assistantship or B.Sc. (Non-Medical) or B.Sc. (Computer Science) or equivalent.
