SOT PDEU Admission 2025: Application, Dates & Selection Criteria

SOT, Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) BTech, MTech, BSc, MSc and PhD courses in several Engineering specialisations related to the Energy streams, for example, Nuclear energy, Solar energy, Petroleum energy, etc. Admission to these courses is based on scores of national-level entrance exams. Candidates can apply for UG programmes after completing Class 12. Graduation is required to apply for PG courses.

School of Technology, PDEU offers admission to PhD programme based on Written Aptitude Test or WAT conducted by the school. In WAT, 50% weightage is given to research methodology and 50% to subject specific question. Selected candidates are further required to pass the personal interview round. 30% weightage is given to PI in the selection process. Aspirants with a valid score UGC-NET/ CSIR/ SLET/ GATE are exempted from appearing for WAT.

Yes, School of Technology PDEU conducts a Written Admission Test for MSc programme. The school conducts WAT in offline mode comprising 50 multiple choice questions of 100 marks. The final selection to MSc programme is based on performance of the candidates in UG final exam, written test and personal interview round. The maximum weightage of 50% is given to UG final exam score.

There are a total of 1,260 seats for BTech at SOT PDEU. Out of the total intake, 33% seats are offered through ACPC Counselling and 67% through All India Quota. The 67% of All India Quota is further divided into 52% for All India and 15% for NRI.

SOT PDEU application forms are out in the month of January. Candidates applying for BTech admission at SOT PDEU can start applying from January. The application forms are usually open till end of May, therefore candidates can also apply once Class 12 or JEE Main results are announced. 

Candidates who have complete a bachelor's degree with at least 50% aggregate or CPI/ CGPA of 5.5 in 10 point scale in the qualifying degree in relevant subjects can apply for SOT PDEU M.Tech course. The subject requirement varies specialisation-wise for M.Tech programme. Aspirants applying for M.Tech must hold the documents proving their eligibility for verification at later stages of admission. 

The School of Technology at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) accepts JEE Main scores for admission to its BTech program. The admission to the BTech programme is based on the merit list, which is prepared based on the JEE Main score. The detailed application form is made available after email verification. Admission to seats will be determined by merit, reflecting the ranks/marks attained in the JEE (Main) examination. The application process for both All India and NRI seats will be conducted online. Any NRI seats left vacant in a specific branch will be incorporated into the Open category of All India seats for that particular branch.

In 2023, the SOT PDEU cutoff ranks for admission to BTech programmes were 901775 for Electronics & Communication Engineering, 904387 for Mechanical Engineering and 907889 for Electrical Engineering.

STEP 1: Application Process

Step 1.2: Upload the colored scanned copies of certificates and testimonials as specified in the application form.

STEP 2: Selection Criteria 

Appear for the Personal Interview. The University prepares the merit list by including 75% weightage of theory marks of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology and, 25% weightage of PI. Out-state candidates may be allowed to appear for online PI.

STEP 3: Admission Confirmation and Seat Allotment

A single merit list is announced based on the Class 12 exams and the Personal Interview evaluation by the admission committee of the University and, the selected candidates are required to pay the PDPU fees for BSc which ranges between INR 3.6 Lacs and INR 60 lakh* depending upon the specialisation.
