A detailed review of South Calcutta Girls' College.

Placements: The college had very good placement facilities. Around 60% of students got placed in this course. The top recruiting companies for this course were TCS, Infosys, and Wipro. Around 60% of students got internships after completing this course in the BPO sector as customer care and telecalls.

Infrastructure: All the basic facilities were provided in the hostel with Wi-Fi. The classrooms and mess rooms were neat and clean. The food in the canteen was also neat and clean. The hostel quality was very good. Good medical facilities were available, and there were sports activities every month.

Faculty: Teachers were well-qualified, very helpful, and knowledgeable. This course was absolutely curriculum-relevant. It also made students industry and job-ready by training and grooming them for interviews. Semester exams were quite easy, with 40% passing marks.

Other: I love the subject of Sociology. This course should have more qualified faculty members.

Absolutely dissatisfied with the departmental faculty members and placements.

Placements: They are not provided any placements.

Infrastructure: Canteen is not available. The office staffs behavior is not good, they do not help with any issues. Classrooms are not good. The college area is too big. Gym is always closed and the library hasn't any rich collection of books.

Faculty: Sociology department faculty members are not good enough but they do plenty of extra curriculum activities which are helpful for us. Hostel rooms are not clean. Sociology department faculty members are below average but history, philosophy, and bengal department faculty members are too good.

Other: They have not organised any fest except a cultural program.

Decent government-sponsored college under a budget but has drawbacks, especially regarding placement

Placements: There were good placements a year or two back, but now they don't really provide placements. However, the faculty will suggest where to apply and will guide you, but most of us pursued/will pursue higher studies. Most students clear their papers as the teachers provide you with plenty of notes.

Infrastructure: We have good Wi-Fi connectivity. Classrooms are decent with proper benches and a blackboard. There is an auditorium on the 3rd floor and a snart room on the same floor as well. The library is well stocked, and e-resources are available too. There is only one lift, and students aren't permitted to use it unless for certain cases.

Faculty: Pass percentage is about 90 percent. Most teachers are sufficiently qualified and are quite resourceful with their teaching. Adequate notes are provided, and extra classes are also offered to students if required (both online and offline modes). The curriculum is set by the university, so it prepares you for further studies very well.

Other: A yearly college fest is arranged called 'Bahar’, but it has sprung up very recently. Social events are also done, and sometimes the department personally may take you on an outing, which I'm sure you will enjoy a lot.

Candidate passed 12th/equivalent from any recognized institute/board with mentioned marks in aggregate and at least 45% marks in the subject /related subject opted for the Honours programme. OR At least 55% marks in the subject/ related subject opted for the Honours Programme. OR 50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subjects in her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.
