The candidate must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (plus two course) conducted by West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent examination recognised as such by University of Calcutta.
Mathematics/Business Mathematics/Statistics/Applied Mathematics is compulsory in Plus-II level.
A candidate must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in at least four subjects including English and Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Statistics / Applied Mathematics and must have passed in all subjects as per the respective board/council pass marks.
Selection is done on the basis of aggregate board marks in +2 level.

St. Xavier College Mumbai is the only institute in India, which offers a B.Sc. in Biotechnology and Computational Biology, a 3-year undergraduate course (which is currently changing to 4 years course from June 2025 under NEP) and a 2-year post graduate course by name MSc in Biotechnology. They do not only provide a combined B.Sc.+M.Sc. course in Biotechnology. One can even do B.Sc., then on successful qualification become a candidate of the M.Sc. program.

Try to get into a tier 2 or tier 1 college. If you still are not able to do that, then go for St. Xavier's (Autonomous); don't opt for St. Xavier's University—it's not as great as it seems; the placement system is lucrative. And whatever you do, wherever you go, just for God's sake, don't go to Techno India.
