UILS Chandigarh Highlights 2025
Established in 2004, University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Chandigarh is a constituent department of Panjab University. It offers two undergraduate integrated courses - BCom LLB (Hons), BA LLB (Hons) and two postgraduate courses - LLM (one year) and LLM (two years) in the Law stream. The key objective of the institute is to equip the students with the skills and knowledge to comprehend and diagnose the intricacies of various legal and other inter-disciplinary issues and devise solutions to these problems through analysis and reasoning. The department provides exposure to its students to the law in action through compulsory internships with Supreme Court and Punjab Haryana's High Court judges, eminent lawyers, legal firms, various commissions and NGOs.
UILS has a placement cell that generates placement and training opportunities for the students. The cell also facilitates the student's selection with various legal firms, advocates, companies and NGOs. It offers different types of scholarships like scholarships for students with disabilities, post-matric scholarships, central sector scholarships and SC/ ST scholarships.

Certainly. My friend passed out LLB in 2022 from PU. The Faculty Members were all very good and they taught us with lot of dedication. There were part time Faculty Members also, and some of them rose to be Judges of High Court and also Supreme Court. I am sure the quality of Faculty even today would be as good as it was then.
I am not saying so because Law Dept. PU, happens to be my Alma Mater, but because I see a lot of pass outs do well as lawyers . The university otherwise also has a glorious past to substantiate its credentials. The last to last Retired Chief Justice Of India, Justice Kehar was a pass out of Law Dept, PU. The Late Justice Punchi, who retired as Chief Justice of India also taught at Law Dept. PU. Our former PM, Sardar Manmohan Singh was a Faculty Member in Economics Dept. of PU. The list is endless . Some of the Vice Chancellors like DR. Bambah, have international fame in their fields.
In any case you can search the rating at internet but I would rate PU good for doing law.

UILS Chandigarh has not released the 2023 placement details on the official website as of now. It will be updated here as and when released. However, Panjab University has released the NIRF report 2023 for the Law Department. As per the report, 20 BA LLB/ BCom LLB and 1 LLM student were placed during 2022 UILS Chandigarh placements. The B.Com L.Lb courses at University Institute Legal Studies, Punjab University is little bit expensive. The B.Com L.LB (5 Years integrated) which will cost around 1 Lacs as 1 st Year fees.
