VGSOM IIT Kharagpur MBA Admission 2022
VGSOM offers a two-year MBA programme for Management aspirants as its flagship course. It is a residential programme, spread across four semesters. The total seat intake for MBA programme is 170. Admission to the programme is based on CAT score obtained by eligible candidates, followed by their performance in PI round. - Candidates, appearing for the final year of their bachelor’s degree and, are awaiting results can also apply. However, if selected, the admission of such candidates will be provisional, only if the candidate submits a pre-final certificate signed by competent authorities of previous institute/ university, latest by May 31, 2022
- Applicants must be in good health. In case of any discrepancy found in the certificate of medical fitness (submitted during registration), the opinion of the School Medical Officer (SMO) will be final

Selection process:
VGSOM IIT Kharagpur MBA selection takes place in two stages. In the first stage, candidates undergo Preliminary Screening based on CAT score and past academic performance, followed by a Personal Interview (PI). In the second stage of the admission process, known as the Final Selection stage, a ranking is prepared based on candidate’s cumulative score, including the Application Rating (AR), CAT 2020 score and performance in PI round. These stages are discussed below in detail:
- Preliminary Screening:
As mentioned above, in stage 1 of shortlisting procedure, candidates undergo preliminary screening on the basis of CAT 2020 score. The minimum CAT cutoff required to qualify for admission across various categories is tabulated below:

For shortlisting CAT-qualified candidates for PI round, the final score is calculated by adding AR score (out of 20) and Gender Diversity Factor (GDF) to overall CAT score (scaled out of 20).
Note: Two marks will be given to all female applicants for GDF. However, the GDF component will not be considered for final composite score calculation.

- Final Selection
As mentioned above, the final selection is based on the cumulative score of the AR, score in CAT, and candidate’s performance in PI round. The final offer of admission is made based on merit for each category. If a candidate is barely fulfiling the minimum qualifying criteria, they will not be granted admission in case seats are limited.

VGSOM offers an Executive MBA (EMBA) programme for working professionals. The programme is of three-year duration, divided into 12 terms out of which nine are teaching terms and three are project terms. The classes of EMBA are conducted on Saturdays and Sundays for a 15-hour duration (each day) for three weekends while one weekend remains off. Admission to the programme is based on candidate’s performance in a written examination and interview round conducted by IIT Kharagpur. Reservation of seats for SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS candidates in this programme is as per the Government of India rules. Step 2: Register by filling in basic details, including name, email ID and dare of birth. Also, create an alpha-numeric password for future logins.
