IIT Bombay offers MBA course through Shailesh J Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM). IIT Bombay MBA is one of the top ranked management courses in India. In the NIRF rankings 2024, IIT Bombay is ranked Number 10 for management. Admission to IIT Bombay MBA programme is based on CAT score. The IIT Bombay MBA application process begins in January, soon after the CAT result announcement. Candidates having valid CAT score can apply for MBA at SJMSOM. IIT Bombay MBA Admission: Eligibility Criteria
Candidate willing to pursue MBA from IIT Bombay SJMSOM are requires to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Bachelor degree with at least 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) out of 10 from a recognized university.
- Candidates in final year of graduation and those awaiting results can also apply. The minimum aggregate of first two years must meet the 60% criteria (55 % for SC/ST/PWD category candidates)
- International candidates are required to have a valid GMAT score
IIT Bombay MBA Admission Criteria 2025
IIT Bombay MBA admission is done in two phases. Candidates have to clear both phases of admission round to be selected for admission:
- In the first phase, the eligible candidates will be shortlisted for PI round based their CAT score, academic record and work experience (if any).
- In the second stage, candidates will be selected for offer of admission on the basis of composite score arrived at from PI performance, CAT score, academics and work experience.

Final selection of candidates will be based on the candidate’s overall performance on every parameter. They will be marked on their performance in CAT exam, PI, academics and work experience.

Candidate seeking admission to the MBA programme at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay must take the CAT exam as SJMSOM inducts candidates for the MBA programme based on a valid score in CAT. Candidates having valid minimum CAT overall and section wise percentile as mentioned in the cut-off list released by the SJMSOM, IIT Bombay will be shortlisted for Personal Interview (PI) round. The CAT cut offs for IIM Bangalore hovers between 97-100 percentile. Yes, it is possible to score 99.99 percentile in CAT in first attempt. Many candidates have scored 99.99 percentile in their first attempt in previously.
