IIT Bombay offers MBA course through Shailesh J Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM). IIT Bombay MBA programme is one of the top ranked management courses in India. In the NIRF rankings 2025, IIT Bombay is ranked Number 14 for management. The IIT Bombay MBA application process 2026 will begin tentatively from January 1, 2026. Selection of candidates will be done on the basis of CAT 2025 result. Candidates having valid CAT score can apply for MBA at SJMSOM. Personal Interview (PI) round will be conducted in March 2026. IIT Bombay MBA Admission: Eligibility Criteria

Candidate willing to pursue MBA from IIT Bombay SJMSOM are requires to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Bachelor degree with at least 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) out of 10 from a recognized university.
  • Candidates in final year of graduation and those awaiting results can also apply. The minimum aggregate of first two years must meet the 60% criteria (55 % for SC/ST/PWD category candidates)
  • International candidates are required to have a valid GMAT score

IIT Bombay MBA Admission Criteria 2026

IIT Bombay MBA admission 2026 will be done in two phases. Candidates will have to clear both phases of admission round to be selected for admission:

  • In the first phase, the eligible candidates will be shortlisted for PI round based their CAT score, academic record and work experience (if any).
  • In the second stage, candidates will be selected for offer of admission on the basis of composite score arrived at from PI performance, CAT score, academics and work experience.

Given below are the scores allotted to marks obtained in Class 12, in range. These scores will be taken into consideration at the time of PI shortlisting.

Candidate seeking admission to the MBA programme at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay must take the CAT exam as SJMSOM inducts candidates for the MBA programme based on a valid score in CAT. Candidates having valid minimum CAT overall and section wise percentile as mentioned in the cut-off list released by the SJMSOM, IIT Bombay will be shortlisted for Personal Interview (PI) round. Q:   What is the CAT exam cutoff required to get admission to IIM Bangalore?
A:

The CAT cut offs for IIM Bangalore hovers between 97-100 percentile. The qualifying CAT cut off required for being eligible for IIM Bangalore's Written Ability test (What) and Personal Interview PI is 85 percentile for General category students, whereas for SC candidates, it is 70 percentile. Q:   What is the difference between qualifying CAT cut off and final CAT cut off?
A:
Qualifying CAT cut off percentiles of an IIM is the minimum percentile (sectional as well as overall) required by candidates to be eligible for the Written Ability Test (What) and Personal Interview PI round. These are only eligibility score and not the score for selection. The final CAT cut off percentiles are the scores on the basis of which a candidate is actually selected for the What-PI round. The qualifying CAT cut offs are released publically before the CAT exam and result as a part of selection criteria for the MBA/PGP batch of that year. The qualifying cut offs for CAT are release category wise - General, NC/OBC. General-EWS, SC/ST, PwD. The qualifying cut offs percentiles of General category candidate is higher than then rest. The final CAT cut offs are not released publically. The cut offs are estimate on the basis of candidate's selection for What-PI. The final CAT cut offs for General category candidate is also higher than then rest.
