Review of VNIT Nagpur - Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology.
Placements: The placement process was good. The placement cell was good and provided good job opportunities. To become part of the placement process, students first had to register themselves on university portal with their college name. Then they could sit for placements. Companies that visited the college were TCS, Tata, Infosys, Infotech, HCL, Cipla, Lotus, and many more. Around 90% of students were placed every year. The highest package ranged from 25–35 LPA. The average package ranged from 4–7 LPA. Companies also conducted interview sessions and practical tests for the selection of students.
Infrastructure: My hostel was very good, with nice facilities, and the food was also very good. Food was provided according to the menu and was hygienic. During the registration process, the hostel owner took the required details and fees. The hostel was well secured with CCTV cameras.
Faculty: The teaching faculty of this college was quite helpful and highly renowned. They were very helpful and provided enough knowledge about particular subjects to help students improve in their respective studies. We could easily communicate with them to get solutions to our problems, whether related to academics or otherwise. There was a semester exam system in the college with a CGPA grading system. The external exam carried 75 marks. 25 marks were for internal assessment, which included assignments, tests, and 5 marks for attendance. For science students, there were also 50 marks for practicals. The course curriculum was very good. In the first year of college, there was not too much academic load. It felt like getting complete freedom. Joining the Chemistry lab was fascinating. Learning about subjects made me feel confident.

B.Tech. in Mining Engineering - Batch of 2029

Honest review of Mining Engineering at VNIT.
Placements: Around 60-80% of students get placed depending on the batch and market conditions. In recent years, the placement percentage has ranged from 64% to 80%. The highest package was 14.5 LPA, the average package is 10 LPA, and the lowest package is 6 LPA. Recruiters include CIL, IOCL, Vedanta, JSW, etc. Around 65% of students get internships and trainee offers. The major roles offered are GET, Safety Engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in VNIT is very good. It has well-equipped laboratories, smart classrooms, a central library, campus-wide Wi-Fi, and good sports facilities. Hostel rooms are decent and regularly maintained. The mess food is average but hygienic. The campus also has canteens, a sports complex, etc.
Faculty: Faculty members are qualified, experienced, and supportive, with good knowledge of their subjects. The curriculum covers both practical and theoretical subjects. They provide detailed information about the industry. Semester exams are moderately challenging. Overall, the pass percentage is good.
Other: I chose this course because I preferred the college over the branch. Mining is a very interesting topic. It would be better if they taught more ML subjects in the course.

Dissatisfied with campus life.
Placements: The good thing about VNIT is placement. We will get good placements even at a low CGPA. The highest package will be around 64 LPA, and when it comes to the lowest, it may be around 4 LPA. Mahindra, Tata, BHPL, PSU, etc. The students with a CGPA of around 8.5 will get internships easily. Design and Manufacturing is the top role offered in Mechanical Engineering.
Infrastructure: We will get the best Wi-Fi, good labs, good classrooms, and the best library. We will get 24/7 Wi-Fi through LAN. The food is average. We have one healthcare center, which is good. We have an ambulance for emergencies too. There will be a lot of sports to participate in and practice.
Faculty: Every teacher is highly qualified, but not everyone puts in the effort to teach. We will have all the books in the library. The course curriculum is nice, and it is relevant to the present situation. The question papers will be difficult, and the pass percentage depends on relative performance, similar to that of JEE.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2027
3.8
4.0Placements4.0Infrastructure4.0Faculty4.0Crowd & Campus Life3.0Value for Money
An average Computer Science student's life at VNIT.
Placements: About 70-80 percent of students are placed till the end of the placement season. Top recruiting companies are Oracle, Google, Goldman Sachs, VISA, Wells Fargo, and Arista, which offer really great packages. Some other good companies hire a good number of people, including Hilti, Accenture, etc. The highest package offered is 40 LPA, and the lowest package offered ranges from 4-5 LPA. The average package offered ranges from 7-8LPA.
Infrastructure: Everything is well-equipped with every required thing in the department. Just the CSE department building is a bit old, as compared to the new infrastructure constructed on the campus. Labs do have ACs, and Wi-Fi is available. A unique building, i.e., Class Room Complex (CRC), is where classes take place. Hostels are well equipped with LAN and Ethernet connections for free internet. The cleanliness is maintained at regular intervals, but still, it can be improved a bit. Food quality is not bad, but still, there is space for improvement.
Faculty: Teachers are cooperative and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant now. Initially, there used to be common courses for all branches in the first year, which led to studying subjects of other branches, which we won't use anytime in the future in our degree. But the revised curriculum led to department-wise subjects from the first year itself, which is very useful. Semester exams are moderately difficult. If we focus on class lectures and study well, then we can pass easily.
Other: I chose this course because CSE is a chill branch, which I heard about before choosing college and branch, but here I feel we do have a bit of a busy schedule. A lot of lab evals and assignments make us busy and let us feel they are not that chill, though. But it feels like it's for our learning only. So nothing bad. It has a bit of a busy schedule.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2029

An institute of national importance for a reason.
Placements: 88% of students were placed in B.Tech in mechanical engineering. The highest package was around 20 LPA, and the average package for mechanical was around 12 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TATA Motors, Siemens, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra, etc. These offer top roles such as design engineer, data analyst, management training, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure available for mechanical engineering is well above average, and all facilities have been provided. The quality of food is decent, and the food tastes delicious and healthy. The facilities for sports and games are more than enough. Everything is available and well maintained. Many tournaments occur frequently, which keep the people engaged in sports.
Faculty: All the teachers are helpful. The minimum qualification of the teachers in VNIT Nagpur is at least a Ph.D., which gives students the opportunity to learn from brilliant professors. The examinations at VNIT are quite challenging, and the quality of questions in the examination is decent.

As good as an IIT if you can make the best out of it.
Placements: Placements are good if you work hard, and there are enough companies for deserving students. CSE/ECE have very good placements, and most serious students get placed. EEE/Mechanical/Civil have good placements in core sectors. M.Tech Civil has many company opportunities. MME/Mining still has enough opportunities for serious students. Chemical Engineering has many students getting placed in PSUs.
Infrastructure: The college has one of the best infrastructures among NITs, with good facilities in every department. The gym is available. Freshers stay in old hostels with triple-sharing rooms. Second- and third-year students get single-sharing rooms in old hostels. Fourth-year students get single-sharing rooms in new hostels. The swimming pool is amazing. The campus area is large, and students can do cycling.
Faculty: There is no branch change facility. A 75% attendance rule is followed, and students may receive a W grade and have to repeat the course if their attendance is low. Faculty members are really nice and teach very well if students focus. The course structure is also great. There is no Chemistry for CSE/ECE students, which is a plus.
Other: This college is one of the best NITs out there.
