What is CUET?

CUET (Common University Entrance Test) is conducted by NTA, a centralized admission process for UG and PG programmes after Class 12th, including admission to B.Des or BFA Programmes for designing and art aspirants. Most of the design aspirants aim for design institutes like NIFT, NID, IIT, etc., but there is also an opportunity to get into prestigious colleges through CUET.

CUET 2025 counselling is being conducted separately by the participating institutes like Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University. CUET counselling 2025 has commenced after the announcement of the CUET UG result 2025. Private institutes are also accepting admissions through CUET. 

Is B.Des Offered through CUET?

Yes, B.Des is offered through CUET by many colleges and universities. These programs are for candidates who want to pursue design but do not want to appear for separate entrance exams like NIFT, NID, UCEED, SMEAT, MITID DAT, etc.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Des 2025 through CUET

The CUET eligibility criteria for B.Des are:

  • The candidate must have completed Class 12th or equivalent from a recognized board.
  • The minimum marks as specified by the College accepting CUET Score for B.Des. Usually, it is 50% or more.
  • For Age Criteria, the candidates will be required to fulfill the CUET age criteria (if any) of the Universities in which they are desirous of taking admission.
  • There may or may not be any requirement for a portfolio or Studio Tests.

CUET Subjects Required for B.Des 2025 Admission

The CUET subjects required for B.Des Admission through CUET Score are:

  • Section IA (Language Test): This is the compulsory language test. The language can be English or any other applicable language.
  • Section II (Domain Subject): There will be 50 Questions. Subjects here may include Fine Arts/Commercial Arts/Visual Arts, depending on the university’s requirements.
  • Section III (General Test): It includes 50 questions. The questions will cover general knowledge, logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, etc.

Prep Tips for B.Des Apirants through CUET 2025 

Some of the tips for Candidates who want to pursue B.Des or any other design programmes through CUET are:

  1. Candidates must choose their CUET subjects carefully, depending on the university they want admission to, while filling out the application form.
  2. Check the brochures, universities’ websites before filling out the form or making a decision. Each university or college may have a different process for Admission. Some may conduct a Practical Exam, while some may just accept through the CUET Score.
  3. Candidates must start early preparation for the general and language tests. Read the guidelines issued by NTA on CUET Subjects.
  4. It is advised to keep the portfolio ready; if any college conducts an interview or a practical test, it can be helpful.
  5. Go through the previous years' CUET question papers. Also, solve sample papers and take mock tests.
  6. Stay updated with the official notification from CUET or the university announcement.
