SID is one of the best colleges you can go to for Design.
Placements: SID has a 100% placement record. Under my discipline, i.e. Video Film Design, all the students get placed and are recruited by various production houses, corporate companies, advertising companies, etc. The initial packages go from 6 Lacs PA up to 12-14 Lacs PA. Under VFD, we have the opportunity to become video editors, photographers, cinematographers, writers, set designers, creative designers, directors and many more.
Infrastructure: The equipment and the facilities provided for my course and as a matter of fact for all courses are state of the art and are constantly upgraded as per growing times. We are provided with the best computers, software and equipment like cameras, gimbals and other resources for more hands-on experience and actual skill development. There are editing labs equipped with Mac, studios for shooting and proper labs for all the technical work. The hostel provided by SID is one of the most hygienic and quality hostels ever seen. There are badminton net, garden and basketball court for our recreation. There are also common rooms wherein pool table, carrom and table tennis table has been placed for us. There is an on-call doctor available whenever needed in an emergency. The food provided in the mess is of great quality. The diverse menu every week makes sure to cover the general liking of specific dishes for everyone.
Faculty: The faculty of my department and across all department is exceptional. They are extremely guiding and would help you through the basics. Instead of feeling judged, we feel secure and safe because the faculty is focused to make us improve our skills and be the best in the industry. They are extremely friendly too. At times, it won't feel as if they are professors, rather as seniors and friends. The curriculum is completely practical and relevant to the current industry trends. Since the faculty itself has a lot of industry exposure, there is ample exposure for the students too, ultimately making us industry ready. The semester exams aren't difficult. Since a design programme has jury exams, it is more like a viva and a presentation of the work done throughout the semester. Regular assignment completion makes jury a swift process. Plus, the faculty clears theoretical concepts so easily that one need not do rote learning for any sort of viva questions.
Other: I chose Video Film Design because of my interest in writing and storytelling. The best thing about VFD at SID is the faculty and the hands-on experience provided by the university. SID has one of the most active co-curriculars. With weekly clubs, regular events and celebrations, Shilpakatha, FDM-Fundamentals (College Fest) and a lot of events, the college surely knows how to keep its students entertained and engaged throughout.

It is one of the best designed colleges.
Placements: Symbiosis has a record of 100% placements. In 2022 placements, the highest salary package offered is around 12 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 6 LPA. Placements are the best in UI/UX followed by fashion communication and design. Some of the top recruiting companies are Accenture, Infosys, Amazon, Tata Motors, H&M, and Whirlpool.
Infrastructure: There are three girls' hostels. You have the choice to live in 3 shared or 2 shared rooms. Each room has its own washroom and balcony. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The food served is good for hostel standards but the snacks are always delicious. There is Wi-Fi in the college and hostel. Classrooms are big and full of vibrance. There are well-equipped garment-making labs, pattern-making labs, animation labs, woodwork labs, photo studios, and others.
Faculty: As a first year student, I know only about the foundation-year faculty members. They are well qualified with many years of experience in teaching and industry. Each classroom gets 3 professors who instruct and help out during assignments. However, they help more only if you approach them first.

It will not be the best college experience, but you will take away quite a few good memories.
Placements: According to the information I got from my seniors, they have to look for internship opportunities on their own. Placements are more easily available for the students of graphic design and product design course. Placements are almost not available for fashion designing course. A placement cell exists, but very little support is given by the faculty.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure facilities provided (related to the course) are adequate. Though it is not outstanding, the assigned tasks can be completed. Food is really good, and it is better than most of the colleges. Many varieties are offered is offered, and there is an on-campus canteen that serves a very wide variety of delicious food. Hostel capacity of girls is better than the hostel capacity of boys. The rooms are good in the hostel I stay, and there are attached washrooms. The staff are nice and caring.
Faculty: A good percentage of the faculty have a good knowledge of their subject. However, some teachers are made to teach subjects that aren't their forte. You have to approach the teachers by yourself if you have queries because, in some courses, sufficient information is not given. So far, the curriculum has been useful in improving pre-existing techniques and also in taking more important decisions regarding practical applications.
Other: As there are several different colleges in the vicinity, you get to participate in inter-college events. There are two fests conducted every year, Shilpkatha and Fundamentals. They aren't the best fests but provide good entertainment. There are a lot of facilities in the around campus like malls, restaurants, cinemas, etc. Sports and extracurricular activities aren't paid much attention, and if you are interested in sports, you have to find off-campus facilities.

Great experience in the particular fields with practicality.
Placements: Most placements and internships were given and applied for graphic design and companies like mtv India, vh1 etc. Are most popular in giving opportunities. Some placements were offered abroad with salaries up to 5 Lacs. It is very helpful in making contacts in the industry and outside the industry with many supportive people.
Infrastructure: Graphic design classrooms, animation lab, fashion design labs, product design studios, interior space design lab, gym, library, photography lab, user experience design lab, video film design studios etc. Canteen food preferred at most times than mess food but mess food is healthier. Comfortable hostel for boys and girls.
Faculty: Most faculty have more than 7 years of experience in their field of Design and have worked with famous companies. Advanced technology along with ancient technology is included in our courses. Most courses were taught for the requirements to prepare ourselves to settle in the industry.
Other: College fest, festivals, design showcase, animeet, shilpkaatha, chhap.

Decent Design Institute for enthusiasts. Good Faculty.
Placements: The placements at the college were decent. There was a steady increase from last year's placement average package. Prominent companies visited the campus like Cognizant, Deloitte, Deloitte Consulting, Elephant, General Motors, Hexaware Technologies, huawei, Infosys, L&T Infotech, Landmark, Leaf Design, Make My Trip, Microsoft, Mind Tree, Persistent Ltd. , Reliance Symantec, TATA ELXSI, TCS, Teach For India, Think Design, Delhi Tommy Hilfiger, Whirlpool. A lot of new companies also visited our campus.
Infrastructure: There is a well built campus with all the necessary equipment like Wi-Fi, hostel rooms, provision store. The hostel rooms have all the necessary amenities inside the room. A nice wardrobe space. Study table. Mirror and everything. The classrooms and the labs for practicals area also state of the art.
Faculty: The faculty and the curriculum is very rigorous but rightly so. The kind of structure and curriculum we follow here, gives emphasis on the practical applications of the course we are studying. This helps to understand exactly how what we studied works in the real time scenario and be well prepared for future jobs and scenarios.

One of the 'better' Design colleges in India.
Placements: Placements are alright. They're mostly students organised and are very different your typical Engineering college placements. The job scenario is different for every stream, for example if you're Video Film Design student, you don't expect Yash Raj Films to come down for placements to hire a new director, where as students who are looking for jobs at more 'organised' industries such as Advertising or UX or Fashion do find good opportunities via placements. Nevertheless, I still have friends who work with YashRaj and no matter which field or college you're from you'll still need a good portfolio to get a job. For a designer a degree means nothing, half of the industry is self-taught. It is now that design colleges have sprung up everywhere. Around the end of the course, the students organise Design Showcase which is also where we invite a lot of companies. From MNCs, to startups to studios. Design is a skill based industry, a lot of my friends got their jobs from via college placements, I found it by applying separately. Almost everyone I know found a job without much difficulty. I have no data on average salary, depends on your stream, don't look at salaries, look at the smiles. The joy of creation is why you should choose design, not the money.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is pretty good from Indian standards. The library is amazing. Labs are equipped and everything in the college can be issued. You can take thousands of worth of camera and lighting equipment home to practice/shoot/whatever. All software installed are originals. If your class genuinely needs some equipment then it can be arranged in no time, but if you need something for your own project then it could take a while or even forever. I wish they had more Macs, but you can ask for the once you're in, maybe your batch will get them. Most students get their own laptop anyway. There's a decent gym and and there's always a doctor on campus, you also get yearly medical checkup plus a certain health insurance.
Faculty: Faculty members keep on changing. For me, the experience was great. I had a really really good mentor, not so much for all my friends. The space teaches you a lot, but it definitely helps to have good mentor-ship. Sadly, this applies to all design colleges in India, there are very few dedicated academicians. The curriculum is project based. You don't have typical exams or books, you work hard on your assignments and project and pass/fail based on them. This is one of the good parts. Most project briefs are open so you can do what you want and explore your interests. These projects also add to your portfolio and help you get a job.

Perfect college experience with a creative environment.
Placements: The placement cell in this college is good. Most of the students in Communication design (specifically from GD UED) get placed. The average package offered in our course was Rs.8 LPA. Companies like Accenture, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Information Edge, etc. come to offer placements here.
Infrastructure: Never stayed in the hostel but the campus infrastructure is great. Labs & Classroom are well-equipped. The SID Library has a huge collection of design books & other resources. The quality of food in the Cafeteria and the mess are excellent. The college sends students to University Sports tournaments every year.
Faculty: The faculty is knowledgeable and very well-qualified. The entire course is of 4 years and is neatly structured. It focuses on making the students industry ready. There are no written exams as such, there are juries which are a presentation of the work you do in the entire semester.
Other: SID has an annual college fest called the Fundamental (FDM). That's the best part of the entire academic year. Lots of hands-on learning experience, interaction among seniors & Juniors, and co-circular learning during the fest preparation days.

Our college has a great infrastructure and facilities and really experienced professors.
Placements: I am pursuing graphic design in SID, and in our course, about 50% of the students take admissions, i.e., our course has the maximum students every year. I am not aware of the lowest salary package offered, but I have heard that the highest salary package offered is 14 LPA. There are all kinds of design studios, and companies like Deloitte and even small startups visit here to offer placements. Almost every student gets placed in campus placements every year unless they have a TNG subject backlog. Even after getting placements, students can still apply for jobs in studios outside the college to be better on their own. Students will be graduated from our college as a designer and will become either designer, assistant designer, design manager, design consultant, freelancer, project head, etc.
Infrastructure: Students of all the courses in SID are allowed to use all the facilities and labs no matter which discipline they belong to. There are product design labs with huge machines where we are made to use on our own. There are 3D printing labs, screen printing labs, etc., which are always open for students and use after college hours by taking permission. There is a Wi-Fi facility in the college for every student. The library is highly equipped with all kinds of books, books on case studies and even movie CDs which can be issued. The library also has a set of computers, and students can use them. The library has a huge mirror for dance practices and everything, and there is also a GD lab with MACs. The hostel here is a beautiful place with its own garden, salon, swings and library. It has clean and comfortable rooms, and there are housekeepers who visit every day except on Sunday's. All the staff members are really very friendly and never fail to make you feel that you are at home. There are water coolers nearly on every corner of the campus.
Faculty: There are a limited number of teachers for our course, but every teacher is very knowledgeable. They are available on the campus, and students can call them at any time of the day. They are quite helpful with their inputs and really approachable for personal problems as well. We have full-fledged projects where we have to work in groups, on our own and taught about design thinking in every aspect, which is way more important rather than just being taught software. Every project which we do is provided to a client. Internships are provided at the end of the third and fourth year, which help us to have industry experience.
Other: The campus crowd is a little high class, but all of them are really humble and helpful. There is no ragging in SID as there is a strict policy against it. I chose the course of communication design-graphic design as it is the most well known in SID. I had interacted with the alumni of this college, and I got great feedback regarding the college. Our college had advantages and disadvantages and is not perfect, but it surely gives you a lot if you are willing. I wish that there would have more outdoor trips as we do our craft documentation in different states and excursions. It would also be nice to visit printing labs more often to get better exposure to graphic design. One of the best parts of SID is events. We organise and participate in multiple events as they are entirely handled by students right from finance to the marketing fields. So, events not only provide you with knowledge beyond design but also help you to communicate and interact with different kinds of students and help you to learn how to deal with problems quickly. Our professors encourage us to take the lead in these events and are always ready to help wherever they can. Some of the events organised by us are Shilpkatha, which is a story of artisans, Chhap, which is a branding fest, Callifest, which is calligraphy event, Lakshya, which is a 24 hours Sketchathon, annual cultural fest named FDM and also other small events. Our college also gives us a course called service-learning, where we do social work for institutions like ISKCON, etc., and help them with our skills for free of cost. We also have inter institute course and electives where we learn subjects beyond our respective courses.
