Aspirants who have passed Class 12 or equivalent or Class 10 along with three-year Diploma with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for SC/ ST) can apply for the BDes course. Additionally, candidates appearing for the final year exam can also apply for any of the BDes specialisation. The institute offers BDes in four major disciplines, namely Communication Design (Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Animation, Film Design, Video Film Design), Industrial Design (Product Design, Interior Space Design), Fashion Design and Fashion Communication. After filling the application form, aspirants are required to appear for Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) followed by Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction.

At the undergraduate level, Symbiosis Institute of Design offers BDes in various specialisations. The accepted entrance exam for admission to BDes is SEED. Students who wish to get admission to this college through SEED must keep an eye on SEED results. Along with SEED, candidates must have a minimum of 50 percent marks in Class 12.

To be eligible for admission, candidates must also take the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED). The computer-based SEED exam is administered online. The exam measures the candidate's foundational understanding of design, art, craft and culture, environment, and logic in Science and mathematics. Candidates must have a valid SEED score in order to apply for admission to SID. The SEED score is only valid for one year. Candidates may apply to any BDes specialisation while they are taking the final year exam.
