The core subjects under MDes at UPES School of Design aim to make students understand the advanced concepts of Design. Some of the core subjects included in the curriculum are:

To get admission to BDes, candidates must have atleast 50% aggregate in Class 12. The accepted entrance exams are JEE Main,  CUET,  NIFT Entrance Exam,  NID Entrance Exam,  UCEED,  UPES DAT, and others. Hence, candidates must have relevant scores in the accepted entrance exams. There must be 50% marks in Class 10 as well. The selection will be based on the Portfolio Presentation and Interview round. 

UPES School of Design BDes seats are distributed among different specialisations offered by the university. Under all the specialisations, the university provides an equal number of seats, i.e., 240. Upon computing all the seats, the university boasts a total of 960 seats for its BDes programme.

BDes is provided in specialisations such as Product Design, Interior and Retail Space Design, Transportation and Mobility Design, User Experience and Interaction Design, Graphics & Communication Design, Animation and VFX, and Game Design.
