Comparing it with last year’s topper’s score, this year’s toppers have raised the bar across several engineering disciplines. The GATE 2025 branch-wise cutoff marks and number of appeared candidates have also been released on the official website- gate2025.iitr.ac.in. GATE 2025 results were released on March 19, and this year’s GATE toppers have raised the bar across several engineering disciplines. The competition intensifies, with many candidates scoring higher raw marks than last year. The GATE 2025 result scorecard is available from March 28 to May 31 (for free) until December 31 (paying a fee of INR 500 per paper).

- Mechanical Engineering (ME) - 95.33 (GATE Score: 967)
- Civil Engineering (CE) - 89.02 (GATE Score: 1000)

- Electronics and Communication (ECE) - 82.67 (GATE Score: 1000)
Most branches saw raw marks above 80 for GATE 2025 AIR 1, with nearly all toppers achieving a perfect GATE score of 1000. This straightly indicates that the easy branches have higher scope to achieve perfect score.

What can you expect in the GATE 2025 Admission Counselling?
GATE admission to M.Tech programs was conducted through two major portals:
- COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) - For IIT M.Tech admissions. Candidates receive multiple offers and can “Accept and Freeze,” “Retain and Wait,” or “Reject and Wait.” Registrations and counselling for GATE 2025 COAP is now over.
- CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech) - For NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Based on GATE score, preferences, and category. The GATE CCMT counselling 2025 is done.
Tips for Participating in the GATE 2025 Counselling:
- Register early at CCMT and COAP websites
- Track dates regularly and research colleges properly
- Keep all documents ready for counselling
- Research college cutoffs, past trends, placement rates, etc., to plan choices wisely.

PSU Recruitment through GATE scores
Many PSUs have started conducting recruitment processes based on GATE scores. Some of the top PSUs include BHEL, ONGC, IOCL, GAIL, and NTPC. Most PSUs consider a GATE score weightage of 75 to 80%, followed by a 15 to 30% GD or interview.
To get shortlisted for PSU through GATE, a candidate must have GATE score of around 750 to 850 or above. However, it can vary depending on the discipline, type of PSU and candidate category.
Shiksha Poll on GATE Analysis: MTech Tops the Chart
Shiksha's recent GATE result poll has highlighted what GATE 2025 aspirants plan to pursue post-results. Our poll with 921 votes, nearly 49% of GATE 2025 aspirants chose MTech in IITs/NITs as their next step. 27% are eyeing PSU jobs, while 15% prefer Research or PhD—only 9% plan to retake GATE next year. With few days left, the results provide a valuable glimpse into the mindset of GATE aspirants in 2025, balancing career goals, academic dreams, and second chances.
