What can you expect in the GATE 2025 Admission Counselling?

GATE admission to M.Tech programs was conducted through two major portals:

  • COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) - For IIT M.Tech admissions. Candidates receive multiple offers and can “Accept and Freeze,” “Retain and Wait,” or “Reject and Wait.” Registrations and counselling for GATE 2025 COAP is now over.
  • CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech) - For NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Based on GATE score, preferences, and category. The GATE CCMT counselling 2025 is done.

Tips for Participating in the GATE 2025 Counselling:

  • Register early at CCMT and COAP websites
  • Track the dates regularly and research colleges properly
  • Keep all your documents, such as GATE scorecard, educational qualification certificates, etc. ready
  • Research college cutoffs, past trends, placement rates, etc., to plan choices wisely.

PSU Recruitment through GATE scores

Many PSUs have started conducting recruitment processes based on GATE scores. Some of the top PSUs include BHEL, ONGC, IOCL, GAIL, and NTPC. Most PSUs consider a GATE score weightage of 75 to 80%, followed by a 15 to 30% GD or interview.

To get shortlisted for PSU through GATE, a candidate must have GATE score of around 750 to 850 or above. However, it can vary depending on the discipline, type of PSU and candidate category.

Shiksha Poll on GATE Analysis: MTech Tops the Chart

Our poll with 921 votes, nearly 49% of GATE 2025 aspirants chose MTech in IITs/NITs as their next step. 27% are eyeing PSU jobs, while 15% prefer Research or PhD—only 9% plan to retake GATE next year. With few days left, the results provide a valuable glimpse into the mindset of GATE aspirants in 2025, balancing career goals, academic dreams, and second chances.

Q:   How does the IIT Madras CSE cutoff compare with that of IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay?
A:

For the General AI quota, the IIT Madras CSE cutoff 2025 stood at 171 in the first round. Till the last round, the cutoff remained the same, indicating all seats got filled after the first round of the JEE Advanced cutoff. For IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, the CSE cutoff ranks were closed at 126 and 66, respectively, for the same category.
