Choose the correct study material
The appropriate study material is essential to yielding a good rank in the competitive exam. One must not rush towards new books or start new topics in the last month. The students, who have joined a coaching institute, should stick to the modules provided by their institute. Solve each question of these modules in this last month. Go through the key points of each chapter and then solve maximum questions. In case going through the entire exercise is not possible, then at least go through the solved examples given at the end of each chapter.
Divide the time wisely between the three subjects - Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Also, make an extensive self-guide in which you could categorize the topics according to weightage and analyze the level of preparation. This would help in covering all the topics in the last month with limited time in hand. For the theory portion, you could refer to the notes for quick revision and then solve the questions either from the study package of the institute or other MCQ books such as Universal Self-scorer.
JEE Main Examination structure
Joint Entrance Exam (Main) which is also known as NTA JEE Main is an online national-level entrance examination for undergraduate courses. It comprises three subjects viz. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each subject consists of 25 questions each.
20 questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) which would fetch four marks for every right answer and one mark would be deducted for every incorrect answer.
There is a new change in the pattern with the introduction of five numerical value questions in each subject in which each question would have a numerical answer. Each correct answer would fetch four marks, however, there is no negative marking for an incorrect answer. No mark is rewarded or deducted for unattempted question. The total number of questions and marks is as follows.

Focus points
The students could categorize the topics based on their weightage and the input required in preparation.
You would come up with four main categories:
- High input, High weightage
- Low input, High weightage
- Low input, Low weightage
- High input, Low weightage
The students must focus on the first two categories, followed by the third and fourth category at last.
Some of the important topics from each subject are-
Physics - Heat and Thermodynamics, Ray and Wave Optics, Fluids, Work Energy and Power, Electromagnetic Waves, Gravitation, Kinematics, Electrostatics, Current and Electricity and so on.
Chemistry - Atomic Structure, Solutions, Hydrocarbons, P-block Elements, Equilibrium, Thermodynamics, Electrochemically, Chemical Bonding, and Mole Concept.
Mathematics - Integral Calculus, Binomial Theorem, Matrices and Determinants, Permutation and Combination, Trigonometry, and Differential Calculus.
One could get a more comprehensive guide of the chapter-wise weightage on any online portal.
JEE Main Study plan
Devise a study plan to cover these topics. Thorough revision and consistency are the keys, especially in the last month. Stay up-to-date and practise mock tests in an environment similar to a classroom. Set the timer and solve the test within the prescribed time limit. This would help in getting adapted to the exam atmosphere.
Skip the questions which are difficult to save time and marks as there is negative marking in the JEE Main exam. Practise online tests regularly as there is no option to go back and re-mark your answers. This would help in making sure that question would only be attempted when one is confident.
Go through the notes as many times as possible. Learn to manage the time in the one last month and stay positive and calm.
