JEE Mains 2026 session 2 exam will be conducted from April 2 to 9, 2026. To score good marks in NTA JEE 2026 session 2, students must have a clear understanding of the syllabs, difficulty level of exam and paper pattern. Cracking the JEE Main 2026 exam in one month could be easy if followed by the right approach and expert guidance.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Timings, Pattern & Marking Scheme

The Exam would be conducted in two shifts on the exam dates in both Session 1 and Session 2. The first shift will be from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and Second Shift from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm

JEE Main Marking Scheme

For MCQs as well as Numerical Value Questions, the marking scheme followed is 4 for the correct response, -1 for an incorrect response, and 0 marks if left unanswered/ marked for review. There is a negative marking in both Section A (MCQ-type questions) and Section B (Numerical value).

How to Prepare for JEE Main in One Month

A serious aspirant ideally must have completed the syllabus by now. The following points would, however, count.

Time Management: Proper planning is most important for timely preparation and dealing with study pressure. By now, serious students must have evaluated their preparation or been informed about the same by their teachers. So, this is the time to consolidate your preparation and ensure that you do extremely well in the actual JEE Mains exam.

• All three subjects Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics are equally important. So, divide these crucial remaining weeks aptly into the three subjects

• Prepare a chapter-wise and topic-wise revision schedule for your weaker topics.

• Create short notes and list all formulae & points to remember. This will help in quick revision before the examination.

The Right Approach: The correct approach for those appearing for the first time or second time is to stick to one source and not to refer to a multitude of books/ study material available in the market. To reap the benefits, the students should remain focused throughout the preparation period with a positive attitude to study with utmost concentration. In the last two to three weeks it is only brushing up through notes & flagged important problems with twists. Taking Mock Tests on the actual pattern is recommended at this time to set the biological clock.

The syllabus of classes 11th & 12th is equally distributed across the question paper in JEE Main. Students are advised to avoid selective study in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Generally, all topics are covered as mentioned in the syllabi. However, stress may be given in the following chapters:

Mathematics: Quadratic Equations & Expressions, Complex Numbers, Probability, Vectors, Matrices in Algebra; Circle, Parabola, Hyperbola in Coordinate Geometry; Functions, Limits, Continuity, and Differentiability, Application of Derivatives, Definite Integral in Calculus.
Physics: Kinematics, Gravitation, Fluids, Heat & Thermodynamics, Waves & Sound, Capacitors & Electrostatics, Magnetics, Electromagnetic Induction, Optics & Modern Physics.
Chemistry: Coordination Chemistry & Chemical Bonding in Inorganic Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical & Ionic Equilibrium, Mole Concept in Physical Chemistry, and Amines and Oxygen-containing compounds in Organic Chemistry.

Study Plan for One Month

The last month should generally be utilized to consolidate one’s preparation by focusing on revision briefly, problem-solving, and overcoming the weaker areas in preparation. However, the following points should be kept in mind:

• Remain focused and maintain a positive attitude while studying.

• Develop speed by solving quizzes/Mock Tests of JEE Main level problems with time management.

• Speed & Accuracy will be your key to success in JEE Main

• Take mock-test series preferably in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode to build a winning exam temperament. Try taking them at the same time as per your schedule. If you have to appear in the morning session then you must take the mock test at the same time and if it is after the session then take the mock tests in the afternoon. Keep a check on your mistakes and try overcoming them in every test you take.

• Sample papers will give you a fair idea about the pattern of questions and help you improve your time management.

• Solve the Previous year’s JEE Main papers for understanding the level of questions asked.

• Focus on your weaker areas and improve your concepts.

• Remember it is the quality of time spent and not the quantity alone. Hence, take short breaks of five to ten minutes after every one or two hours of serious study. Relax completely when you take a break.

• Practice meditation to develop inner calm, poise, confidence and the power of concentration. These matter a lot and will help you on the day of the examination.

• Don’t overstress yourself. Five to six hours of sleep every night is a must, especially three-four days before JEE Main 2026 for physical and mental fitness. Relaxation exercises may help to retain freshness. Avoid oversleeping during the day.

• Attempt easy questions first.

• Choose sections that have less risk and more gain.

• Carefully scroll through the entire question paper in the first 5 minutes.

• One day before JEE Main, do not study anything new.

• Stay calm, confident and trust yourself.

• Brush up on important formulae in all three subjects.

• Relax or indulge in meditation a day before the actual exam to give your best on the exam day.

• Don’t ask your friend how much they have studied. It will create unnecessary pressure.

• Prepare yourself to reach the exam centre at least half an hour before the exam starts.
