Vidyavardhinis College of Engineering and Technology, Vasai

After completing 10th, one should think about their career, about what they are going to opt for among Science, Commerce or Arts, because basis this, their future will be decided. At that time, I decided that I wish to pursue with Engineering, and so I opted for Science.

Studying science after 10th involves subjects like Computer Science which will help you if you want to do engineering, as it helped me.

In Maharashtra, a common entrance test MHCET is conducted for engineering and one should study well for CET to be able to get into a good college. I scored 50% in MHCET which is 99 out of 200 in, so I got a good college which I wanted.

One should think before taking career decision because if they are not interested, they will not study well. I am currently in the 3rd year of Btech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. I chose a subject that I like instead of the ones those were suggested by others.

Exam Tips

Maharashtra common Entrance Test (MHCET) is conducted for candidates willing to seek admission into the engineering programs offered at colleges accepting MHCET scores. Other than CET, colleges in the state also accept JEE Main scores for engineering admissions. One should try and appear for both the exams. This will help you at the time of admission. A during admission, some of the colleges ask for your JEE Main scores.

Also, you should give other college entrance exams conducted by reputed universities. I appeared for MU-OET conducted by Manipal University.

In order to prepare for JEE, one will require coaching classes because it is difficult to crack the exam without proper guidance. I also enrolled in a good coaching in order to have a thorough preparation of the exam.

According to me, CET is easy as compared to JEE but I think coaching classes should be a necessary option, as studying on our own is difficult. In order to crack both the exams, one should give as many mock tests as you can, because those tests will help you a lot.

For CET, there is no negative marking, so you should try to attempt all the questions.
For JEE, there is a provision of negative marking wherein for one wrong answer, you will get -4 marks and for a correct one, you will get +2 marks. So, in JEE, you should attempt questions for which you are sure about the answers.

Always try to score good marks in these exams so you can get a good engineering college. Because in engineering, a good college will get you a good job. You should go for a college which offers campus placements.

My college life

I took admission in Vidyavardhini’s College of Engineering & Technology, Vasai, in the
EXTC branch. The college is popular in the state for both academics and placements. My college life is being spent really well. We have sports fest every year and we also have annual dance competitions.

You will enjoy your college life at VCET. In one semester, you only have 3 months of college tenure and after that, one month is for exams only, so you can enjoy your college life to its best.

But the main problem in engineering is, you have to sit for lectures because you need to accumulate 75% attendance. In my college, we had to do this. If your college allows less than 75% attendance as a possibility, then you are in a good college.

You should do all the projects because it will help you a lot for the job. You should also participate in all events, even in sports and dance competitions too.  You will also get opportunities to go for campus visits to other colleges for technical competitions. If you get a KT, then it is okay. You can clear it afterwards, so don’t think too much about that.

You should also enjoy your college life so that you can make memories. So, best of luck for your career and may you get a good college.
