Everyone encounters engineering in day to day affairs. Whether travelling, surfing on a computer or heating food in a microwave, engineers have a hand in our day-to-day activities, as their scientific knowledge can be applied in a structured way. This article explains what engineers do and the types of engineering jobs that are available, the skillset needed to be a successful, and the remuneration that can be expected.

Those Aspirants interested in engineering have a number of options to choose from. They can opt for degree in a specific field of interest, the types of products they’re interested to work on, or the materials they are knowledgeable about.

Branch option to choose from after having a passing your High school with Science.

Computer Engineering

This engineering has two parts one which helps in building of computer and the other building programs to work on it.

Computer hardware engineers develop, test and design systems and components thereby facilitating developments in computer technologies. Large part of their work includes creating blueprints of computer hardware, testing hardware designs and making required modifications. Also working closely with software developers to ensure existing hardware products are compatible with the latest software updates.

Civil Engineering

This branch of engineering allows the participant to design, develop and build a wide variety of products, which includes machines and tools. This job is done using computer application to create product designs, further testing the design by creating a prototypes to determine whether or not they work the way they should and analyze and test results to tweak the design specifications as necessary.

Electrical Engineer

They create electrical systems used in products which are then designed, developed and tested. These engineers find the most suitable ways to use electrical power. The process involves calculations to develop and build products; arrive at specifications for manufacturing and installation of a product; and testing products to ensure they meet the production criteria. Electrical engineers also look into assessing product complaints so as to find out the cause behind product failures and how the issues can be resolved.

Environmental Engineer

In case of an environmental adversity, such as an oil spill, a community turns to these kinds of engineers for support. They are handy when a city needs to improve its recycling program. That’s because environmental engineers use their knowledge of engineering, as well as sciences, may it be chemistry or biology, to solve environmental problems and find solutions to issues that affect the environment. Some of the specific job duties of environmental engineers include conducting environmental investigations, creating environmental protection plans, and inspecting industrial facilities to ensure they comply with applicable laws.

Nuclear Engineer

These engineers develop ways to leverage nuclear energy and radiation. Their work can be found in medical devices used to treat and diagnose patients, as well as power sources found in airplanes and ships. Some of the Nuclear Engineer job roles include design and development of equipment such as radiation sheltering, reactor cores; examining the nuclear accidents to find the cause and to create prevention policies; scripting guidelines for nuclear waste handling and disposal rule and also to mentor the operations pf nuclear power plants in order to ensure its smooth and lawful functioning.

Materials Engineer

Material engineers make use of material to create products used in everyday life – which is accomplished by developing, testing and processing materials in order to find the right elements for a specific product. Job roles of Material engineer comprise comprise creating finances for projects and ensure proper implementation of these projects; investigating product failures and finding the reason and solution for the failure and to also supervise the work of technicians and scientists

Industrial Engineer

The role of industrial engineers is primarily driven by efficiency. They use their domain knowledge to manage materials, devices, information and even people in order to create products or provide services. The job of an Industrial Engineer demands the review of processes in order to uncover the wastefulness, creating efficient ways to manufacture products, scrutinizing production issues and implementation of quality control measures. Streamlining the production schedule is also one of the roles involved in the job profile of Industrial engineers.

Chemical Engineering

Chemical engineers work in laboratories to create experiments which results in reducing the gap in investigation and manufacturing of chemical goods and apparatus. Scope of work is from optimizing DNA order to discovering an alternative for gasoline, you could say chemical engineers can have resolutions to any situation. Chemical Engineering encompasses the study of Chemistry, Biology, Math and Engineering Sciences. Students learn to create new medicines and fertilizers, optimize resource productivity or manage compound plants and industries.

Automobile Engineering

These engineers work on design and creation of Automobile which runs on different energy sources to travel faster and smart with comfort. They can work as a design engineer to development new designs for vehicle, or in the production department giving shape to the design or in the testing department analyzing the loopholes in the design and manufacturing. All departments are inter related and each one should know all the jobs to excel better.

Biotechnology Engineering

Biotechnology is branch where you study how to work on chemical compositions and structure to create better molecules. Engineers in the subject implements these compositions to manufacture products to masses. The subject has a mixer of chemical, biology and engineering.

Communications Engineering

The course in communication engineering will make you to work in the field of technology in capacities ranging from hypermedia communication, data management, smart transportation, traffic safety, positioning and direction-finding, networks, and Internet-of-things; areas where information processing plays a importance.

Production Engineering

A Production Engineer is responsible for safe manufacturing equipment and production processes with cost effectiveness. The work is normally involves in areas like Installation and maintenance. Maintenance involves working with Technicians to resolve problems with the plant or machinery. Installation involves purchase of new machinery and deciding is optimal utilization.

Aerospace Engineering

Job of an Aerospace engineer demands research, design, development and maintenance of civil and military aircrafts, missiles, weapons, systems, satellites and space vehicles. Specialisations in this branch of engineering includes aerodynamics, materials & structures, propulsions and system integration.

Aeronautical Engineering

Aeronautical engineering is about the design, configuration, aerodynamics, systems and operations of aircrafts. The job is concerned with improvement of aircraft safety and standards as well as reducing infrastructural expenses.
