Engineering Colleges accepting JEE Main for B.Tech in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is one of the premier institutes in West Bengal. This institute earned a name for providing quality engineering education ever since it was established in 1961. It was affiliated with the West Bengal University of Technology. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate streams of engineering courses. A host of students from all over the region are attracted towards this institute. The college boasts of experienced faculty, modern infrastructure, and its stress on research and development. Apart from this, a good placement record wherein many of the reputed companies are ready to take students at the time of graduation enhances its reputation and makes it one among the popular choices among engineering aspirants.

Both IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay are among the top institutes to pursue a B.Tech. In computer Science and engineering. Here is a small comparison: 1. Raking: The IIT Bombay has been ranked 3rd by NIRF, whereas the IIT Kharagpur has been ranked 5th in the 2022 rankings. 2. Fees: The course fee is similar at both institutions, at around Rs. 8 Lacs. 3. Infrastructure: Both colleges have decent infrastructure. The campus at IIT Bombay is better and more student-friendly than IIT Kharagpur. 4. Popularity: The CSE branch of IIT B is more popular than IIT K. It is evident in the cut-off ranks of JEE Advanced. The cutoff for IIT B was 63, which was higher than the closing rank of 283 for IIT K. 5. Placement: The placement rate at IIT-B is better than that at IIT-K. Almost 99 percent of CSE graduates were placed at IIT-B in previous batches. IIT-B had the highest placement salary package of any IIT at INR 22.7 LPA (domestic). Therefore, from a placement perspective, the student prefers IIT Bombay over IIT Kharagpur.

NIT Durgapur was ranked at 44 under the 'Engineering' category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024 rankings. BTech is the flagship programme of NIT Durgapur, admission to which is based on JEE Main score. Once BTech is completed, students get to participate in the placement drive. The 2024 placement session concluded with 72.08% of the BTech batch placed. A total of 568 job offers were given to BTech students. NIT Durgapur average package for BTech stood at INR 7.35 LPA and the highest package offered was INR 51 LPA.

IIEST Shibpur BTech cutoff 2025 for the Aerospace Engineering branch in the last round was 36842 for the General AI category. In 2024 and 2023, the last round cutoff was 26815 and 28672, respectively. This difference in the ranks says that the cutoff trend has been decreasing over the year for this category. Please remember that the cutoff trend for other categories will vary accordingly. 

IEM Kolkata accepts WBJEE entrance exam rank for admission to BTech program. According to the WBJEE cutoff 2023, the last round closing rank for BTech program fell between the ranges of 398 to 92292. Among all the brances, BTech CSE was the most sought-after course specialisation. In 2022, the WBJEE rank went up to 3621 in the last round for the General AI category.

No, MAKAUT considers WBJEE for regular admission to BTech programme and JELET (conducted by WBJEEB) for admission to lateral entry programme. Other than above mentioned exams, the official website does not mention any other source of admission. Students are advised to check with the admissions office of the college.

JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exam takes place in the month of April every year. Whereas, the application form for Session 2 will be available on the JEE Mains website. The exam is conducted by NTA.

The campus has a number of sports facilities, immaculate classrooms, and Wi-Fi, however the catered food's quality and quantity need to be enhanced. Although teachers emphasize completing the curriculum on time and possess knowledge, students' assessments of how consistently they are taught vary.

Heritage Institute of Technology offers a Full Time BE/BTech programme that lasts 4 years. It is available in 21 specializations. Students can apply for B.Tech at HIT provided they clear the selection process. The total number of seats alloted for B.Tech programme is 1140 and it is distributed into all the specilizations. Students who want to get into HIT must clear the eligibility criteri aset by the institute for B.Tech i.e. must have passed 10+2 from a recognised university, must secure a valid score at JEE Mains and clear the cutoff. Once the qualify candidates are shortlisted they are called for counselling and based oon their ranking the seats are alloted to them.
