Engineering Colleges accepting JEE Main for B.Tech in Kolkata

This year, a total of 18,951 seats are available across all 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

JEE Main counselling and seat allotment has many processes. Once seat is allotted to a candidate, you have option of Accept and Freeze, Accept and Float and Slide. If you are satisfied with allotted seat and select first option, you cannot participate in next round counselling. If you are not satisfied, select second or third option to participate in next round with the current seat.

Students can apply for B.Tech at HIT provided they clear the selection process. The total number of seats alloted for B.Tech programme is 1140 and it is distributed into all the specilizations. Students who want to get into HIT must clear the eligibility criteri aset by the institute for B.Tech i.e. must have passed 10+2 from a recognised university, must secure a valid score at JEE Mains and clear the cutoff. While UEM Kolkata - University of Engineering and Management offers this course in 11 specialisations, Techno Main Salt Lake offers the same in 14 specialisations. Hence, there are higher chances of getting a seat at UEM Kolkata - University of Engineering and Management due to higher seats.

MCKV Institute of Engineering and HIT - Haldia Institute of Technology both are renowned universities for B.E. / B.Tech. However, in terms of affordability, MCKV Institute of Engineering is a better option since the total tuition fee for MCKV Institute of Engineering is INR 365,200 and the total tuition fee for B.E. / B.Tech at HIT - Haldia Institute of Technology is INR 279,050 - INR 426,700. In the total fees that students generally end up paying the university or the college, various other components are also included, such as the exam fee, application fee, lab and other charges.

Calcutta University BTech admission does not require candidates to mandatorily appear in WBJEE. A valid score of JEE main is also accepted for granting admission into BTech at University of Calcutta. However, first preference will be given to candidates applying through WBJEE.

Yes, Candidates who wish to become a professor after BTech in Electrical Engineering will also be required to complete MTech and PhD in the required discipline.They must clear GATE in order to pursue M.Tech and later pursue PhD in the same discipline. They must demonstrate excellent research skills by grabbing fellowships and submitting research papers across SCOPUS indexed journals.

Yes, Brainware University does offer BTech courses in several specialisations. The course is offered in full-time. The course duration is four years and spread across eight semesters. Students must fulfil the basic eligibility criteria of the course.

No, candidates cannot apply for Swami Vivekananda University Barrackpore BTech courses directly. Instead, candidates are required to appear in WBJEE in order to qualify for BTech admissions.

Candidates who have a valid score in JEE Mains can also apply through those scores.

In order to get admission to BTech at MCKVIE, students need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria, i.e., to pass Class 12 with 45% aggregate with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Applications / Technical Vocational subjects (in both theory and practical) (40% aggregate for reserved category). Further, a 30% aggregate is also required in English from a recognised board. As per the next step, aspirants need to qualify for either JEE Main or WBJEE with a valid score.
