Yes, non-GATE candidates must appear for the institute level entrance test. However, all candidates are required to appear for the PI round for final selection. In addition to this, BTech graduates from the IITs with CGPA/ CPI of 8.0 or above (on a scale of 10) are eligible to get admission to M.Tech at IIT Gandhinagar without GATE. Other than GATE or the criteria state above, candidates are required to be a pass in BE/ BTech/ MSc or equivalent in appropriate branches with a minimum of 55% aggregate or 5.5 on a 10-point scale (50% aggregate for SC /ST). 

MTech is offered in two specialisations, namely CSE in Artificial Intelligence and CSE in Data Science. The duration of the M.Tech programme is two years and there are 70 seats available at IIIT Vadodara for the M.Tech programme.

The university conducts its entrance exams such as the National Forensic Admission Test (NFAT) for admission to specific courses.
