Modern-day gurukul, fully green campus, good vibes, average package.
Placements: So, from my batch, 80% students got placement. The highest package offered was 27 LPA, the lowest package offered was 3.5 LPA, and the average package was around 4-5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Infosys, DEE, Sonalika, Kandhari Beverages Ltd., ISGEC, Jindal, TCS, Mahindra, etc. The top roles offered were GET.
Infrastructure: Department infrastructure is the best. If you want to do research work or anything, there are plenty of resources available. The library is the best, all course-related stuff and other literature are easily available, and we have an e-library option. The hostel facility is good, but the mess is managed through a third-party contact, so the food quality is bad.
Faculty: Teachers are the best in their field. If you're truly willing to grow, they will eventually help you grow. Course curriculum is relevant, but it has to be changed my modern world requirements. Semester examinations are easy. Almost every student passes, but exceptions are everywhere.
Other: I'm a 2025 passout from the mechanical department. My reason for choosing this course was my love for automobile machines. The things I want to improve are firstly that the course should change immediately with aligned to modern world requirements and new technologies. Second, the teacher and student relations should be good, and research work should be promoted. Plenty of extracurricular activities are held, like Tech fest, Cultural fest, Science day, etc.

College for extra passion and dreams.
Placements: 90% placed in this college in batches. Most students prepare for higher studies and other competitive exams based on graduation, like CLAT, UPSC, SSC, and many more exams like this, to update themselves with higher knowledge. They also prepare themselves for better jobs in placement drives and interviews.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are good, but you have to compromise with the mess food. Security is also good. They protect you from any misleading activities and work in their surveillance. Please keep your things and life in check around them, and do not forget to thank them occasionally for their kind deeds.
Faculty: Teachers and faculty are good. All the students also follow the guidance of the faculty and professors, studying very hard for good academics and placement. So, please check it out and try it if you want to achieve very big ambitions for other exams and life.
Other: Fests are good, and very regular workshops and events are also held.

Average college, best place for GATE preparation, low fees, wide campus, and greenery everywhere.
Placements: All are placed. Some go for higher studies like GATE. There are good results in GATE exam. Top companies are Infosys, TCS, JP Morgan, JSW, Larsen and Turbo, Khanna Paper Mills, Cognizant, Capgemini, Torant Gas, Fidelity International, and Unilever.
Infrastructure: Mess food is okay. Hostels are good. Sports facilities are good, organised many games. Teams go to play in other colleges. Drones and robotics club are present.
Faculty: Course curriculum is easy and relevant. Academic pressure is not so much. Getting a good CGPA is easy by studying one night before the exam. There are two minor exams and one major exam in one semester. Assignment and project are given. Classes are not so much hectic but there is also 75% attendance policy.
Other: Many fests are organised. There is one technical fest known as Techfest and one cultural fest known as Madhuram. They participate in many events organised in IIT and NIT. Coding club is present and it is active.

I'm absolutely amazing because of all the facilities, low fees, good placement, and great faculty.
Placements: The percentage of students who are placed is about 60%. The highest package is 25 LPA, and the lowest is about 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TVS Motors, Mahindra, and Infosys. The percentage of getting an internship is about 80-85%. All the companies have given good reviews about the college students.
Infrastructure: There are all types of facilities available, like digital libraries, a hostel, a sports complex, and grounds. There are different blocks, 12 different hotels, AC classrooms, etc. There is a volleyball court, 2 basketball courts, 1 cricket ground, 1 football ground, and 2 tennis grounds. There is a library and 1 study center.
Faculty: The faculty members are GATE-qualified. All the teachers are too good and supportive. They all have good experience in teaching. Semester exams are not that hard, they are easy, and the teacher also helps you with the preparation. The course curriculum is too good, and you have enough time to prepare.
Other: The reason I chose this course is that I want to be a mechanical engineer. The good thing about this is that the jobs are highly available for this branch.

It is an amazing technical institute in which every student can make a good career.
Placements: Placement at this college was very good. Almost 40-80% of students got placed here. Average placement should be about 4 LPA - 5 LPA. Many companies like L&T, Infosys, Microsoft, and many more companies visited the campus for selection. It provided a nice placement cell here.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure was suitable. It had a large area of 451 acres of land, and every department had its own building. It had a lake inside the campus, garden, shopping complex, and activity center including gym and stadium for sports as well. There was a swimming pool to enjoy also. It had a central library with a study center in it.
Faculty: Professors were well qualified here. They always taught you the relevant topics that were helpful for the student's skills. The curriculum was the latest and relevant. Practical knowledge was also given through practical classes. The semester exams were moderate. If you study, you will easily pass every semester.
Other: My course was integrated certificate diploma (ICD), it was a 3-year course after which you could directly give lateral entry exam for admission in the 2nd year of B.Teach course. My course was in instrumentation in which I gained practical knowledge as well as theoretical knowledge. I wish they would add some subjects and eliminate some in that course. Every year, a college fest was organised in this college in which many types of cultural activities were conducted, and provided enjoyment for students. This college was 18 KM from Sangrur district in Punjab, it was situated in Longowal.

Pretty average in other aspects, but lot of spare time for self growth.
Placements: The placements in SLIET are pretty average, as big players of the market do not participate in the on-campus placements. Companies like Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL, etc. participate in the placements, but they offer packages as low as 3.5 LPA. Students have to go through aptitude tests, interviews, and a final round, and at the end, they get these little packages. This year (2024), Infosys took 44 students from CSE, ECE, EE, etc. in the IT field at 3.28 LPA. The highest package offered this year was 11.5 LPA to 5 electrical students by Hindustan Unilever.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the institute is pretty good. The college is spread over 453 acres of pretty lush and green area. The college has academic blocks (one for each branch), a central library with all kinds of books, magazines, a study center, a student activity center with a gym and sports facilities, a sports complex, a food complex, stores, restaurants, etc. The classrooms have smart boards installed and Wi-Fi access for every student, but with a limit of 1 GB per day per student. Talking about the hostel, you get a 3-seater room with 3 chairs, 3 almirahs, 3 beds, 2 fans, etc.
Faculty: The faculty members of the college are above average; they are highly qualified and experienced, and pretty supportive. Maximum faculty members understand the problems of students, unlike other non-deemed colleges (for example, they do not detain or fail you if the case is genuine). The curriculum of this college is outdated and totally examination-focused. The syllabus of the course is the same as it was 20 years before. Exams are easy; it is easy to score and get a good grade in this college even if you study 1 day before the exam. There are 3 examinations per semester.
Other: This college has a great ROI (Return on Investment), but the crowd of this college is Punjab-centric and quite orthodox. Connectivity is not good; the nearest town is Sangrur, which is 25 km from the college, and the nearest city is Ludhiana, which is as far as 90 km. There is no source of fun inside the college, and nightlife is the worst. Hostel timing: (10 pm for boys, 7 pm for girls). Scholarships: (Tuition fee waiver, 2 students get it per branch - 1 boy and 1 girl). Fests: Madhuram (cultural fest), Techfest (technical fest). The college lacks in sports infrastructure.

Commonly asked questions
On Comparisons
Q:   Is Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology as good as Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University?
A:

In India, two well-known engineering schools are Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). Nonetheless, the two colleges differ significantly in a few important ways. Strong engineering departments, especially in computer Science and engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering, are the hallmarks of SLIET, a private institution. The public university SMVDU specializes in biotechnology, electronics and communication engineering, and civil engineering. With an average pay package of INR 7.5 Lacs for graduates in SLIET, compared to INR 6.5 Lacs for SMVDU graduates, SLIET has a marginally higher placement record than SMVDU. The placement results can change based on the student's performance as well as the particular programme they are enrolled in. SMVDU and SLIET are both top-notch engineering schools. Your personal interests and aspirations will determine which university is best for you. SLIET might be a better option if you're searching for an institution with a proven track record of placing engineering students. SMVDU might be a better option for you if you are interested in a particular engineering field in which the school excels, like biotechnology or civil engineering

Q:   Is SLIET more expensive than Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University?
A:

According to the information available on Shiksha.com, the total fees for a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is INR 3.60 lakh (for 3 years), while the fee for a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET) is INR 2,67,000 for the duration of 4 years. Therefore, SLIET is less expensive than Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.

Q:   Does Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology have better placements than Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University?
A:

Both the institutes Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University are well to pursue higher studies. However, when we talk about the placements offered and compare them, then for B.Tech-M tech courses the package range is INR 4-19 Lakhs approximately in Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology and around INR 4.5-25 Lakhs in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University which is better than the former. Also the placement rate in SMVDU is greater than in SLIET. Also the growth rate in the number of placements is also better in SMVDU which is 28 % than 13% of SLIET. So we can say that placement report of SMVDU is better than SLIET.
