Like the IITs, IIMs and NITs, we also have the IHMs. There are 21 central IHMs, 25 state IHMs,1 PSU IHM, and 27 Private IHM that strive to impart Hospitality Education and Training. Institutes of Hotel Management in India take admission based on a national level entrance test NCHMCT JEE. Here we have discussed which are the 10 IHMs with the highest cutoff last year.

10 IHMs with Highest Cutoff

What IIT is to an engineering aspirant and IIM is to an MBA aspirant; an IHM is to a hospitality candidate. Institute of Hotel Management is affiliated with NCHMCT. The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) has been under the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India since 1984. Admission to any of the IHM is a big deal and paves the way to a great career in the Hospitality industry. NTA holds the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology Joint Entrance Exam (NCHMCT JEE) for admission to the IHMs each year.

Hospitality might not be a very conventional career choice for candidates, but it does not mean that it is not fast-growing. Around 40,000 students appear for NCHMCT JEE each year for admission to the IHMs.

Q:   When will NCHMCT JEE 2025 cutoff released?
A:

NCHMCT Cutoff means the opening and closing ranks after the NCHM JEE Counselling. NCHMCT JEE 2025 cutoffs are prepared on the basis of minimum qualifying marks and rank obtained by an aspirant in JEE. The opening and closing ranks for NCHMCT JEE are released for each college that accepts scores of the hotel management entrance exam.

Q:   What are the factors that affect NCHMCT JEE 2025 cutoff?
A:

Factors that help determine NCHMCT JEE cutoff 2025 are as follows:

  • Total number of seats
  • Difficulty level of exam
  • Number of candidates who took the exam
Q:   How do NTA decide the cutoff marks for NCHMCT JEE?
A:

The National Testing Agency (NTA) decides the cutoff marks for the NCHMCT JEE based on several factors:

  • Exam Difficulty Level: The overall difficulty level of the exam plays a significant role. If the exam is particularly challenging, the cutoff may be lower.
  • Candidate Performance: The average and distribution of scores obtained by candidates are analyzed. The NTA considers how well the majority of candidates performed to set a balanced cutoff.
  • Number of Seats Available: The number of available seats in the participating institutes influences the cutoff. If there are fewer seats, the cutoff may be higher to ensure that only the most qualified candidates are selected.
  • Previous Year Cutoffs: Historical data and previous year cutoffs are also taken into account to maintain consistency and fairness in the selection process.
  • Reservation Policies: Government regulations regarding reservations for various categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS) can affect the cutoff marks for different groups.
  • Expert Consultation: NTA may consult subject matter experts and stakeholders from the education sector to establish a fair and reasonable cutoff.

The final cutoff is published alongside the exam results, providing transparency in the selection process. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, always refer to the official NTA website.

10 IHMs with Highest Cutoff for Admission

The cutoff for IHMs is indicated by the opening and closing ranks. Ranks to candidates are allotted based on their marks in NCHMCT JEE. More is the NCHMCT JEE percentile higher the rank.

Admission to the 21 central IHMs, 25 state IHMs,1 PSU IHM, and 27 Private IHMs is based on NCHMCT ranks. Common online counselling is held to allot seats at the IHMs after NCHMCT JEE results are announced.

We have provided below the list of the IHMs that had the highest cutoff last year. From the list, it is clear that IHM Delhi, Pusa is the one IHM with the highest NCHMCT cutoff. It has the tightest OR and CR among all other 9 IHMs.

Q:   Do NCHMCT JEE cutoff marks change every year? If so, why?
A:

Yes, the NCHMCT JEE cutoff marks can change every year, and several factors contribute to this variability:

  • Exam Difficulty: The difficulty level of the exam can vary from year to year. If an exam is particularly challenging, the cutoff may be lower, while a relatively easier exam may lead to a higher cutoff.
  • Candidate Performance: The overall performance of candidates in a given year impacts the cutoff. If more candidates perform exceptionally well, the cutoff is likely to rise.
  • Number of Candidates: Fluctuations in the number of candidates taking the exam each year can influence cutoff marks. A larger pool of candidates may lead to a more competitive scoring environment.
  • Seat Availability: The number of seats in participating institutes can affect cutoffs. If there are fewer seats available, the cutoff may increase to ensure that only the top candidates are admitted.
  • Changes in Reservation Policies: Any updates or changes in government policies regarding reservations for different categories (SC, ST, OBC, EWS) can also impact the cutoff marks.
  • Historical Trends: NTA may consider historical cutoff trends and data to set a reasonable standard for the current year's cutoff.

These factors ensure that the cutoff marks reflect the changing dynamics of the exam and the candidate pool, promoting fairness in the selection process.

Q:   Is the 12th percentile necessary for the NCHMCT JEE?
A:
No, the 12th percentile is not necessary for appearing in the NCHMCT JEE. Some hotel management institutes may consider a 12th grade score in their admission criteria, but you can take this exam if you have passed the 12th grade. In addition, you must be under the age of 25 at the time of application and have English as one of your subjects in the 12th grade. The NCHMCT JEE exam is conducted for admission to the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology. Other than that, its score is accepted in 27 private IHMs, 25 state IHMs, 21 central IHMs, and 1 PSU IHM.
