By Unanza Gulza
Law has always been considered an honourable profession in India and is in huge demand in the contemporary world. Know what is the scope of law as a career below.
The heritages of our country have the work of great lawyers involved, such as Mahatma Gandhi, Madan Mohan Malviya, Dadabhai Naoroji, Motilal Nehru and others. Even the first Prime Minister of Independent India Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and until today our honourable Minister of law and Justice Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad have the legal background. These inordinate lawyers not only experienced law but also made enormous contributions in the freedom struggle. The lawyers then and now have always been pedantically serving in regulating the Legal system of India.
Law has always been considered honourable and respectable profession in India and is in huge demand in contemporary world. This is because of fluctuating social and economic surroundings and an increasing regulatory role being carried out by the government, there is an intensifying demand for the lawyers today. Moreover being financially profitable, Law is also an exploratory and stimulating career option.
In day to day life people come across circumstances where advice of lawyer is needed and in that context lawyers have high respect in society. Those in legal profession are at all times treated with paramount esteem and consideration. Moreover, the person in legal profession confirms that legal machinery is regulated and thereby helping society by representing the victims of child and women trafficking, forced labour, elderly people, domestic abuse and others whose social-economic position is very week. Also, they support the sections of society by assisting them in other different kinds of cases, by filing Public Interest Litigations by providing them Legal Aid and most importantly delivering Justice. Studying law develops various skills and will reconnoitre different phases of human life. Also, it helps us to sharpen our mind, fortifying our understanding and extending our knowledge throughout the humanities and social aspect.

Also, many corporations and firms are working at international level and are thereby widening their scope around the world through acquisitions, mergers, collaboration with foreigners and consolidation. In today’s legal profession the globalization of this profession provide a world-wide opportunity to serve the foreign clients.
In addition to these, graduates in law still have a choice of selecting the conventional careers in law be it Litigation or Judicial Services. Moreover after getting experience, a person can aspire to become Public Prosecutor, Solicitor General or become government lawyer attached to different departments and ministries. A law graduate can also become a legal adviser to different organizations or can become an academician by teaching in colleges in which he can gain lot of fame in academic world. A person can attach himself with NGO’s or can work as a reporter for newspaper or television.
However, with the increasing requirements of regulations in diverse aspects of life, today a legal professional can opt MBA, appear in exams of Civil Services, and select a course of Social Media or in Social Services to understand the brass tacks of every industry. Likewise, individuals from other occupations are also studying law so as to comprehend legal facets of their concerned industry. Thereby the role is Vice-Versa.
Further, studying law will help to develop the art of lawyering, including skills such as research, drafting, client counselling, legal analysis, negotiation, mediation and advocacy. Besides, providing opportunities in law to assimilate with practice by sending students to different Human Right Agencies, law firms as interns and to different Legal process outsourcings for trainings, instil communication skills by legal awareness, reasoning and analytical skills, personal impact etc. It further helps to endorse self-directed learning like to update themselves in areas that are pertinent to their career and to understand the things which are necessary to contemporary society at both national and international levels.
