How JIMS has shaped my Career: Ruchi Shrivastava

My experience in graduation has been one of the best experiences of my life. I saw myself growing from a person with low self-esteem to the confident individual that I am today. I participated in lots of activities happening in the campus during graduation and that has made a lot of difference in my personality.

Being a BBA graduate at JIMS Kalkaji, I was motivated to enrol myself for the PGDM program here too. Watching the PGDM students getting prepared for the corporate world further inspired me. Interacting with them made me determined to choose JIMS for my PGDM.

I gave many entrance exams for MBA and cleared them with very high scores. I got calls from most of the good colleges in Delhi/NCR. But I knew that JIMS would be one of the best options to choose for the PGDM program and that this was the institution that would help me climb the ladder of success. I even managed to get a 50% scholarship after a fierce competition with the fellow students in the GD/PI process. So, without giving any second thought, I got myself enroled to it. Till date, I have not, even once, regretted my decision of taking admission here.

One of the main reasons to choose JIMS was the return on investment it provides, as compared to other B-schools. Also, the placements here have been improving year by year and giving a tough fight in the market, with the highest package of 16 lakh in the year 2018. The students are placed in reputed companies like HDFC, Nestle, Aditya Birla, CBRE, ITC, Deloitte, Ernst and Young, etc. which, in comparison with any other B-school, is really good.

JIMS is an institution which has given its students a holistic growth, from academics to cultural and sports. The faculty at JIMS, Kalkaji is one of the best. You cannot find such helpful and concerned faculty members at any other institute. They are always ready to help. Their main motive is to groom us and prepare us for the corporates. They put in their 100% effort into grooming the students, which is reflected in their placements. They not only help us in gaining knowledge but also make sure we have experiences that would help us reach heights.

My experience so far has been beyond expectations as JIMS welcomed us with a professional attitude and corporate exposure from the very first day. From the very starting, all the faculty members started giving their 100% in motivating us and showing us the right path.

Corporate exposure here is not restricted to guest lectures only. Rather, JIMS offers various mentorship programmes and live projects on which the students can work and get real-life experience. JIMS also offers various courses from companies like Ernst and Young, which can help in building our skill sets. JIMS has schedules which are very similar to those of corporates. It prepares the students for entering the market. Practical aspects are taught in labs like Language lab (to enhance our skills in English and other foreign languages) and other labs such as Commerce, Digital Marketing, HR, Visualization, and Analytics labs. Also, it follows a very formal structure through ERP System, which increases transparency in the organisation.

One thing that I really look up to is the culture of JIMS, which not only focusses on discipline but believes in being interactive, be it with faculty members or seniors. Seniors here are really helpful and do not dominate juniors. Rather, they motivate them to work hard and achieve heights.

Every day brings some learning on my part and I am looking forward to building my skill sets, grabbing the opportunities that are provided, and finding a perfect job to start my corporate journey with.
