Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow has a mandatory Summer Internship Program that every student must undergo after completion of his/ her first year at college. This program intends to give the industry exposure to the students. An experience at the corporate offices gives a student an idea of their future career. This program is from 8 to 12 weeks, starting around May. Students are required to complete their internships within the summer break to continue with the upcoming academic session.

The year 2021-22 had some great companies coming in with some great opportunities. IHS Markit offered the highest stipend of INR 25,520 per month along with some other well-known brands that include Deloitte, Moody’s, TATA Motors, ZARA etc. 

Internship Process

Enrolment

All the students who have enrolled themselves in the PGDM program are eligible to sit for the process. Students sit for the interviews that match their profile. The interview generally comprises two to three rounds that can include an aptitude test, a GD, and a final PI. This can differ from company to company as per the organisation's requirements. 

The companies start visiting the campus from January onwards and the season sums up towards May end. The process can be online or offline depending upon the company. Students need to follow up with the instructions and the said procedure.

Duration

The minimum duration of the Summer Internship Program is 8 weeks, and it can go up to 3 months if the job demands so. If the duration clashes with the curriculum, then the student must inform the institute beforehand so that he/she does not lose attendance. 

On-Campus and Off-Campus Internships  

Students are encouraged to get the internship through campus only as it is more convenient than the off-campus ones. But it is not compulsory; if any student can get an opportunity from outside the campus, he/she can continue with that. Just keep in mind that the duration of that internship fulfils the criteria set by the institute. 

Certification 

After successful completion of the internship, the student must submit the certificate of the same as proof. Both digital and hard copies are accepted by the college. It must contain the signature of the assigned manager along with the company’s stamp. 

Project Report

There is a mandatory summer internship report that is required to be submitted by every student. This report contains all the learning and accomplishment achieved during the tenure. A hard copy is submitted that includes the certificate and the signature of the internship mentor at college. The template and structural flow of the report is duly given to the students beforehand.  

This report accounts for 6 credit points and is one of the important topics of discussion during placement interviews as well. The topic of the report can be decided by the student himself as per the profile he is working on. 

The students get full support through the process. One can discuss anything regarding the opportunity, the project report, or the topic of the report with the faculty members.
