Mystory@Bazil Aga: How I chose my course and college
I was a very bright student right from the very beginning. Stereotypically, at that time, the students who were good in studies were supposed to opt for Science stream, but I always had a liking for numbers. I ranked first in my school in SSC Board exams. I chose Commerce as my stream as I had an inclination towards the same, and had planned to pursue Charted Accountancy alongside. Based on my SSC score I got admission in H.R. College of Commerce and Economics which is the dream college of any Mumbaikar wanting to opt for Commerce.
After that I decided to go for MBA, and I had shortlisted a few colleges which I wanted try for. Welingkar Institute was one of them. With the kind of courses, placements, and the exposure Welingkar offers, it was easy to decide the college, provided I got admission there.
How I cracked college admission
The toughest phase for an aspiring MBA student is preparing for the entrance exams, and then appearing for these entrance exams. I had joined TIME for coaching. I appeared for NMAT, CAT, CMAT, and CET. I secured 94.65 in CAT, 99.37 in CMAT and 98.60 in CET. It took a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve these results. Regular studies and mock tests were the key for me. The more the number of mock tests you give, the better you are prepared and confident. Apart from Welingkar I was aspiring for JBIMS and SIMSREE as well. But my mms score fell short by a few points for making it to those colleges. Nonetheless, I am satisfied with what my college has to offer me.
My college life
I spend a major part of my day in college now. For me everything happens here, right from studying to participating in extracurricular activities. We WeSchool students spend our time in campus by attending lectures, working on competitions, organising and managing events.
Being from a Finance background and having an inclination towards the same I like attending Finance classes. There are many branches including International Finance, Equity, Derivatives, etc.
WeSchool provides its students a lot of opportunities. I have been a part of Destination India with the University Of Western Australia and that was a really great experience. Being a member of the managing council in college, I have also been a part of the core committee organizing 2016-University of Mumbai, Global Peace Initiative 2016, Doctoral and Marketing Consortium 2017, and a few more notable events.
If given a chance I would like to go for a couple of Student Exchange Programs.
Over the period of these 6-7 months with WeSchool, I have now become more confident and can look at things from a wider perspective. The kind of exposure I have got is worth experiencing and cannot be put into words.
