Being a JIMS alumni, I was eligible for a scholarship of INR 2,00,000, says Chetan

Just like everyone else, I was also confused about which stream to select after schooling. Somehow, I figured out that I had to do away with the shy and introverted aspects of me. So I decided to pursue BJMC from JIMS. This I think was one of the best decisions of my life where I got to work as an intern with India TV. During my bachelor's, I got an opportunity to work with NDTV also. I was so delighted to work in the journalism industry but then I realised I had more to me. I then appeared for the MAT exam and started to read reviews about various colleges of Delhi and NCR. After searching from offsite locations I found Delhi is the best. I then also found due to ongoing pandemic restrictions that I should select a college near to my place given the covid conditions. My search and reasons ended when I found about JIMS Kalkaji. I also got to know about placements and found that students like me are well placed here. So not taking much time and hearing good about the rich corporate insights brought to the students in the form of guest lectures, seminars etc. in addition to the qualified faculty members. I became confident of my choice and decision to pursue my higher studies from the campus.

After appearing for quite a few entrance tests for my undergraduate programme, the entrance for CAT which is required for PGDM was not completely unknown to me. I had a fair idea of the format but lacked complete awareness and conceptual clarity over it. With the reasoning to explore a little longer I surfed the internet and found a lot of relevant content that helped me to clear the MAT exam. Apart from the decent scoring that is 600+ and the extra privilege that JIMS graduate alumni hold I was eligible for a scholarship of INR 2,00,000. This money savior option made my decision more confirmed on three direct benefits: that is to say accessibility (near to my home), economical and knowing the JIMS management already as a convenient option for me to select JIMS Kalkaji.

Digital learning has already been a trend and practice for me as I had learned the tips and tricks from youtube, etc. which facilitated my learning processes also here. Further, though I was receiving calls from NDIM, etc. I had little belief in other colleges as they were completely unknown to me. Moreover, neither money wise the decisions would have been cost-saving.

Q:   Does JIMS Kalkaji provide scholarships to the students?
A:

Yes, JIMS Kalkaji offers scholarships up to 25% on a merit basis who have a good academic record in the past.

Taking classes digitally as compared to offline classes was a task. The classes had been a superlative training experience as they were very informative. Also, enhancement of digital skills through lab exercises helped me to extend my professional skills. I liked Communication classes the most as they were practically dovetailed with various relevant corporate insights. I learned pronunciation accent while neutralising my accent to a global level which increased my confidence to face corporate interviews for MNCs. Though I wasn’t targeting any of the Big Four as such but my idea of understanding corporate interviews became much clearer.

Given my background of mass communication, I joined the NSS club of the campus. There were a few drives such as visiting an Old Age Home and Orphanages which I went along with the other student club members too and got emotional experience enrichment. Apart from the loads of blessings that I received I also realised that interpersonal skills are also of paramount significance. If given a chance again I would like to study the same course in the offline mode for a better experience.

My PGDM experience has transformed me much as a person both inside out. The element of complacency and social sensitivity that clouded me embeds in me a spirit of competition. I realised in digital mode it is more convenient to have more time in your pocket and develop your skills. Waging a talent war isn’t that easy in today’s time of utter competition of completion of courses and securing personal accomplishments. I also developed thereby the spirit of persistence and did away with my habit of procrastination. Meeting people in the real world is always a delight but more important is knowing and applying that art.
