For C-MAT exam I prepared for General Knowledge, Communication Skills, Reasoning and Mathematics., says Rohan
Growing up in a Commerce background family I had a little bit of prior information about the stream and the future opportunities it has. I have always had a keen interest in marketing and research areas so considering this interest of mine I chose Commerce and then to further explore my interest areas and build knowledge in them I chose BCom (Hons). I chose Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College as it was affiliated to one of the top universities in India that is Delhi University. It was a good experience for me as it facilitated me with the major fundamentals of management.
Now the question was how I should go about planning my further education. I chose JIMS Kalkaji - Jagannath International Management School as it offers a lot of opportunities to its students in terms of skills, knowledge and placement. The faculties are also well versed with their areas of expertise. As my sisters had also completed their Post Graduation in Management from JIMS Kalkaji and are now working and growing in the corporate world. Also, the fact that I am a Delhite and wanted a college in Delhi NCR.
As they say and I believe it too that no matter how big the world of marketing is but we believe in what gets clicks right and in time
In JIMS Kalkaji I got admission based on my C-MAT Score. There were two rounds of interviews and a GD Round. I asked a few alumni and also explored on Google about the probable questions that could be asked and prepared accordingly.
Yes, JIMS Kalkaji, Delhi accepts CAT as well as results from XAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA for both courses in Management and Business. But the cutoff marks for each exam varies. They accept a CAT, XAT or ATMA composite score of above 500 with atleast 50% graduation score. Now, it may vary each year but this was one of the frequently seen threshhold score for admission in JIMS Kalkaji
The admission process in JIMS Kalkaji is based on your overall scores in exams like CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT or ATMA for PG business and for Managment as well. Your results in any of these exams must be submitted within October to be able to apply for the admission must also be within the required eligibility criteria in the particular exam
For C-MAT exam I prepared for General Knowledge, Communication Skills, Reasoning and Mathematics. For interviews and GD, I prepared from watching videos and reading about the same on general web. Basis my score I received a call from NDIM and other such colleges but I chose JIMS over any other college due to the fact that I had a good know-how of the various operations, policies, rules, location, crowd and culture of the campus. Watching its digital excerpts made my choice more comfortable.
I am very pleased to share that due to the support of all faculty members especially Dr Neelam Ma’am, HOD, PGDM; Anupa Ma’am, HOD Placements; Palak Ma’am who was my mentor throughout and Jyoti Ma’am who was my class coordinator too I have been one of those few lucky students who have been able to secure one of the best placements with Protiviti. In fact I was placed in the second year itself.
My experience in JIMS Kalkaji was great. The canteen was my favorite spot where I used to enjoy food and informal learning with my friends. Those chit-chat and newspaper-related discussions college life was all fun. There were a few events that I coordinated such as Teachers’ Day, Water Conservation Day, etc. The library was another favorite spot for me where I learned a lot apart from books.
In JIMS Kalkaji there are a total of 180 seats combined in both Business and Management PG courses. There are 120 seats available for PGD in Management and 60 seats in PGD course for International Business. You are required to apply online and provide them with the necessary certificates and details about yourself if possible at the earliest
The eligibility criteria is very simple for admission in JIMS. You have a bachelor's degree with at least 50% of marks from any recognised university. They are also asking for valid scores from management exams such as CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT Or ATMA. Minimum CAT score they are asking for is 60%.
After completing your bachelor's degree you have to go to their site for application and submit the application form. The application fee for this college is around INR 1,200.
College provides an ample number of opportunities for its students in terms of skill-building, knowledge building and extracurricular activities etc. There are a lot of companies coming on campus for hiring students and with all those placement opportunities college/faculties help the students in preparing for the same. Apart from academic’s college has a great infrastructure in terms of libraries, computer labs etc. There is a lot of exposure that students get in various initiatives taken at JIMS like industrial visits, mentorship programme, skill-based certification etc.
Overall, my learning and experience in JIMS Kalkaji were excellent and full of opportunities which not only helped me in building a strong knowledge and personality but it also helped me to secure placement in one of the topmost reputed Consulting MNC.
