Mystory@J D Phanisree: How I chose my course and college
I had chosen MPC (Math, Physics, Chemistry) in my Intermediate because I was very much interested in Mathematics and Physics. The other benefit of choosing MPC is that we can opt for a wide variety of courses after Class XII. I had decided to do Chartered Accountancy (CA).
I had completed my CPT course successfully but unfortunately, I failed in IPCC. This led me to change my path to management side which I thought is slightly related to CA. I thought the knowledge I got in CA course would be helpful in management rather than engineering. With the suggestion of my parents, I joined in BCom and later I chose to do PGDM from IPE because it is one of the top most colleges in Andhra Pradesh offering good platform to improve our skills in management and also providing all facilities as per my parents’ requirements.
I chose to study PGDM (General) because I wanted to get the knowledge of all specializations, as it helps you to choose the major specialization and minor specialization. With this I chose Finance as my major specialization.
How I cracked college admission
After completion of my graduation, I decided to write the entrance exams to get into B-Schools. I wrote MAT exam. For the preparation of MAT exam I took coaching classes in Target institute. I got 84.99 percentile in MAT. I did not try for any other institute to get admission because I had very little time and IPE was the first institute I went for the interview. This college was suggested by my friends and relatives. I had registered for the interview process and they called me for Group discussion and Personnel Interview. I cleared both and got selected for PGDM admission at IPE.
My college experience
I am spending my time attending classes regularly and participating in the presentations given by college staff. I also participate in the daily activities to improve my management and leadership skills and share knowledge with my classmates and also get knowledge from others in the process. I would like to attend all the classes regularly as the classes are very interesting and the faculty uses practical examples to teach us. I am learning many lessons which I didn’t know before. After joining this institute I improved my communication skills. Earlier I had stage fear and I was not able to talk in front of people and I felt very shy and nervous to talk before an audience. Now I have no stage fear and I am giving presentations and speeches in front of people. I am actively participating in group discussions. I like this system in the college as they are motivating us to overcome our fear and shyness. This system has changed me a lot.
Up to my graduation level, I didn’t have the habit of reading newspapers regularly but now I do so. This helps me stay updated on general knowledge and current affairs on industry and corporate. Our college is very supportive in our endeavours. They are improving the infrastructure by constructing sports facilities like shuttle court, volley ball court etc. In the leisure time and in the evenings, we are spending some time to play games. These activities provide some relaxation for us. Here in college I learnt about how to lead life as an individual and also in a group. I am also sure that I will get good placements here.
