Mystory@Wasim Haidar

I never had any plans to study MBA, especially after my graduation in BCA. Both the fields were totally opposite to each other. One is technical and the other one is management. Selecting the right path has always been difficult for me. I opted for MBA due to family pressure and also because I got influenced by my friend. But later on I developed a lot of interest in it and I am happy that I chose MBA for further studies.

My journey for MBA admissions was really difficult. My CAT/MAT/CMAT etc. scores were not good at all. Therefore, it was really difficult for me to get admission in MBA since every college had high cut-offs. I tried for admission in more than 25 colleges but got nothing but failure. I lost all hope and thought of dropping my plan of doing an MBA. On the other hand, my financial condition was not good too. However, everything took a turn when I started getting calls from management colleges, though some of them were not reputed colleges. Still at that time, everything seemed nice.

I went to some colleges to get information personally but different colleges had different structures and problems. After going through a lot of interviews, I was literally frustrated. But finally, I got a call from Unitedworld School of Business, Ahmedabad for admission in PGDM/MBA. I went there to enquire about the college.

I went through the Group Discussion (GD) and then personal interview round. Perhaps luck favored me at that right time. I got selected in the interview and here I am, in one of the finest colleges in India i.e. Unitedworld School of Business, Ahmedabad, pursuing my PGDM.

Life at College: Hobbies and Friends

College life is often termed as a fun life. We have a perception that we only study till our school life. But is it really true? I was about to find the answer of this question very soon as I took admission in Unitedworld School of Business, Ahmedabad, for my MBA programme. Needless to say, it was really fun but that did not mean that I did not have to study.

In fact, the study pressure increases after that because you are going to enter the corporate world. We need to work to get a handsome salary.

College life will teach you every aspect and all the possible ways to achieve something. So let’s enjoy and make it awesome.

College years were awesome. Lots of fun, lots of struggle etc. and I made the best of friends without whom life is nearly impossible. Many new people entered my life and became an important part of my life. Classes that I thought would be boring turned interesting. We got necessary breaks that helped us to relax after a hectic study schedule. Our college organised many events, fashion shows, sports like cricket, football and many more.

Hostel life was not good initially because our seniors thought that ragging was their birthright. They would make us do stupid things, which we did not want to do.

But no matter what I enjoyed my college life to the fullest. I met many people who will stay in my life forever and I am really glad that I came to this college.

Why I chose MBA

Currently, I pursuing MBA and the inspiration behind this course is my friend who is now working at HUL. I thought of leaving my studies after my graduation and thought of working in some company. I also had some financial problems due to which studying further was not possible for me. I never had any plans to pursue an MBA degree. Therefore, I never gave it any thought.

While I was going through this dilemma, my friend joined the MBA course. I used to see pictures of his college life where he attended seminars, visited various events from his college, gave presentations like a professional and this all motivated me. I enquired and he told me everything about the course, its future and how he got admission. I was really influenced by this. But sadly, I had no money to pursue this course. He then suggested that I take loan from any bank. I asked him the process of taking loan. After that I had to go through an entrance test. I took coaching for the exam and started preparing for it. After a year, I got admission at Unitedworld School of Business, Ahmedabad. And now I am a second year MBA student waiting to get placed in some company.
