Students’ Speak: Internship with Johnson & Johnson gave me the right platform to use my learnings

Learning at GIM is not only restricted to classrooms and not only imparted by the faculty. We work on one motto, and every GIMite lives by it, learning truly never stops at GIM.

My first big internship came with one of the most reputed organisations in the healthcare sector, Johnson & Johnson. The big medical device giant provided me with the right platform to showcase and practically use all the learnings and domain knowledge I received from the college. My work primarily revolved around Ethicon business. I interacted with bariatric surgeons so as to fight obesity with the organisation.

At the end of two months, I recommended and implemented a possible action plan. This gave me a competitive advantage, and I was selected as the best intern at Johnson & Johnson. This gave me a great opportunity to present my project to the president council. In addition to that, I won a challenge called 'Onboard with the board' wherein I had to shoot a three-minute video stating what would I have done had I been the CEO for a day at Johnson & Johnson.

The curriculum of the healthcare programme at GIM is designed in such a way that we get a holistic understanding of the healthcare sector. Courses such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, healthcare informatics, among many others, really go a long way in giving us the right direction in working towards our projects in the industry.

I owe my success to my mentor at Johnson & Johnson and all the faculty and friends at GIM. The faculty gave in brilliant insights to current industry trends and practices and my peers helped me become a better version of myself, every day. Learning at GIM is not only restricted to classrooms and not only imparted by the faculty. We work on one motto, and every GIMite lives by it, learning truly never stops at GIM.
