Students’ Speak: Summer internship with Reliance Industries made me future-ready
The best part of the internship was the overall exposure that Reliance gave me. Being an HR intern, now, I know how the entire supply chain cycle works – from the start of the raw material to the final output and the overall impact it brings on society.
My summer internship with Reliance Industries has been an experience of a lifetime giving me immense learning experience. During my internship, I was posted at Hazira, a suburb and a trans-shipment port in Surat district, Gujarat. Along with a completely off-beat location, what was interesting was that I was the only intern posted there. Initially, I was hesitant, however, after a couple of days, I realised the importance of Goa Institute of Management (GIM) in my life. GIM had already made me comfortable with adjusting to people from different cultures and backgrounds, and it did not seem like such a difficult task after all even at the time of the internship.
My project for the summer internship was to develop individual development plans for senior management at Reliance. I was working with people who were veterans in the industry with over twenty-five years of experience. Working around these professionals, I could gather immense exposure and learning opportunity. Part of my project was to influence them into things that may not seem important to them but was of importance from the organisation’s viewpoint for planning their succession.
With the confidence imbibed in me from my experiences at GIM, and the feedback I received from my mentor at the institute, I was able to create value that could impact the organisation. My Excel proficiency helped me in automating their files so that they could have consistency in the data that they had, and could maintain accuracy throughout.
The best part of the internship was the overall exposure that Reliance gave me. Being an HR intern, now, I know how the entire supply chain cycle works – from the start of the raw material to the final output and the overall impact it brings on society.
“Learning never stops at GIM, and Growth is Life at Reliance”. I wish to take all of that together with me to my future endeavors, which would add value to what I will do in my future. I am sure that I will cherish this wonderful experience for a lifetime.
