The Story of Efforts and Success: Mugdha Bajoria

“Challenges are a part of life and to be a champion, one needs to have a big picture in mind.” It’s not always about winning or losing but trying. This is my story of success- of a Commerce graduate who made it to a prestigious institute like JIMS, Kalkaji through efforts which were definitely not less and required a lot of dedication.

JIMS was the only institute where I applied to after visiting a lot of other institutes. The feeling which I got after entering the institute was so overwhelming that it persuaded me to apply immediately. Moreover, the placement record of the college was excellent. The highest package of 16 lacs was also a factor that encouraged me.

Now, after nearly five months of me being in this institute, I can say that the institute is so welcoming that it feels like home. They constantly organize seminars, quizzes, and intra and inter college events which help the students improve their skills. The college conducts guest lectures almost every week, which improves our knowledge. The institute also organized EnY financial modelling course for the students who were interested in finance, which was of a great help in improving their financial skills. The college curriculum also provides students with practical exposure beyond classroom teaching. At JIMS, I get a lot of opportunities to attend and present papers at national and international conferences. I want to thank my college for these opportunities. The faculty of our campus is very helpful. The teachers not only help us in our subjects but also advise us on our career. Our college library is also very useful. It contains a lot of books, magazines, and case study related books for the students’ reference. All the major newspapers are readily available there on a daily basis.

I took MAT exam to secure a seat in MBA. I did the preparation by myself. I was weak in quantitative analysis, so I attempted a lot of mock tests to gain confidence and accuracy in the exam. As a result, I got a very good score. Eventually, I chose JIMS, Kalkaji. The main reasons why I chose it were its goodwill, good placement, and experienced faculty.

In college, besides attending classes, I spend my time talking to my faculty members, seniors, and my classmates. Most of these talks are career-oriented. Other than this, I like spending my time reading newspapers and case studies in the library. I have also managed some events in the college.
JIMS has brought a huge change in my personality through various presentations that are a part of our curriculum, the most striking one being improved communication skills. Also, the institute continuously keeps focussing on building our confidence and making us ready for the industry. They conduct mock group discussions and personal interviews to help us get the best of the placements.

My college experience has been excellent till now, as I have gained organizational skills and leadership qualities.
