The sectional cutoff in NMAT is the minimum score required in each section of the exam in order to be eligible for admission to a particular B-school. The NMAT exam is divided into three sections:

- Quantitative Skills
- Logical Reasoning

VIT MBA Admission: Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for VIT MBA admissions is as follows:
- Qualifying Degree: Bachelor’s degree from any recognised university/institute.
- Qualifying Score: 60 per cent aggregate is required to be eligible for VIT MBA admissions. A relaxation of 10 per cent marks is applicable for the following category candidates:
- SC/ST categories
- Candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir
- Candidates hailing from Ladakh
- Candidates hailing from North-Eastern States
- Work Experience: Candidates without work experience are eligible to apply. However, will have an added advantage in the VIT MBA selection process.

VIT MBA Admissions 2026: Scholarships
VIT provides scholarships to candidates based on their scores in MBA entrance exam. MBA scholarships at VIT Vellore are based on academic excellence. The space below provides details for tuition fee waivers based on exam scores:
- 95 percentile or above in CAT/XAT/GMAT leads to a full tuition fee waiver.
- 90 percentile score or above (up to 95%) in CAT/XAT/GMAT leads to 50 per cent tuition fee waiver.
- Scoring between 791 and 800 in MAT leads to a full tuition fee waiver.
- Scoring between 760 and 790 in MAT leads to a 50 per cent tuition fee waiver.
- Candidates with an NMAT score of 346 to 360 are eligible for a 100 per cent tuition fee waiver.
- Candidates with an NMAT score of 325 to 345 are eligible for a 50 per cent tuition fee waiver.
The average GMAT cutoff for MBA in USA ranges anywhere between 545 to 755. The applicants can aim for B-schools in USA accordingly.
A good GMAT score will only improve your academic profile and application when applying for MBA or MIM abroad. However, GMAT score is not the only deciding factor for their selection to business schools. Application documents are equally important.
The academic score criteria of minimum 50% in graduation for General category candidates and minimum 45 % for SC/ST/PwD candidates is a mandatory criteria set by AICTE for all colleges offering technical education including MBA, so it is very unlikely that if you don't have the minimum academic score by meet CMAT cut off, you will still get admission.
