XAT 2018 Students Reaction

This year management entrance exams like CAT, IIFT, MICAT, and SNAP had a bag full of surprises for test takers. XAT 2018 was scheduled for January 7, 2018, and test takers were quite anxious about the difficulty level of the exam. However, unfortunately, for some aspirants the exam did not take place due to technical glitches and mismangement at exam centres.

According to reports, XAT could not be conducted at Davin Info Pvt. Ltd. near Barasat, Kolkata, and BM Group of Institutions, Gurgaon due to techincal glitches. The candidates will now be informed about the rescheduled date and venue through SMS on their registered mobile number. Such mismanagement by the authorities left many candiates furious.

Notice: Rescheduling XAT 2018

Shiksha spoke to a few aspirants where the test was conducted successfully, and this is what they had to say:

Post Exam Reactions

Anirudh Chawla: This was second attempt, and last year XAT was conducted in an offline mode, and this year in an online mode. Since I had appeared for CAT also, appearing for XAT in an online mode was not that challenging. However, I found the overall paper tough, but I think I have done better than last year.

Priyanka Rana: This was my first attempt at XAT, and the paper was of moderate difficulty. I feel if a candidate is well-prepared for the exam, the exam was doable.

Vipul Anand: This was the first time that XAT was held online, and I also heard that a few aspirants faced technical glitches at some centres, though no glitches were reported at my centre. I had attempted good number of mock tests, but I found the actual paper lengthy. Talking about the difficulty level, I would say that it was of moderate difficulty.

Chanchal Garg: I was well-prepared for the exam, but I found Decision Making tough - the questions in this section were a bit tricky. Also, I felt that overall the paper was too lenghty.

Pre-Exam Reactions

Anita Gupta: I had appeared for CAT and SNAP, and found both the exams difficult. Since I have been hearing that all the management exams this year were on a higher difficulty level, I am a bit scared about XAT too. Nevertheless, I am hoping for the best.

Varun Dogre: I have prepared well for the exam but GK is my weakness, and am hoping that I am able to answer the questions asked. Apart from that, I think I am pretty much sorted.

Anshul Varshney: This is my second attempt at XAT, and this year my preparation strategy has been stronger. I hope I am able to do well this year.

XAT is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur, and offers admission to XLRI Jamshedpur, Xavier Associate Management Institutes and more than 100 B-schools across the country. Aspirants appearing for the exam need to be well-prepared on the following:

Yes, XAT essay writing round can be considered tough, given that you have to present your point with clarity, examples and convincing arguments - all in limited word count. You need to have a lot of practice in writing short, clear and logically structured essays.
