Dos and Don’ts for NEET 2026 Preparation
- Students are advised to take into account the time that they need to prepare new topics and revise all that has been read. Also, dedicate sufficient time to mock tests and their analysis.
- Read the topics that are beyond the prescribed syllabus for NEET 2026. The topics in the NEET syllabus have been taught to the candidates.
- Revision is the key to success. It is important to revise the topics that you have read again and again to retain maximum information.
- Keep things ready for the exam day.
- Do not wait until the last day to download the admit card for NEET 2026. The official website may not work just a day before the examination due to technical issues, or there might be a spelling mistake on the NEET 2026 admit card.
- To score good marks in NEET 2026, applicants must clear their doubts related to subjects that arise during the preparation. Not resolving these doubts can cost you marks in the examination.
- In the past few years, the number of online lectures has increased exponentially. Some of these videos are very good and informative. There is no harm in referring to these videos to clarify doubts.
- Try to complete your To-Do list daily. Do not shift things to the next day. This will increase the number of boxes on the next day’s list and so on. An accumulation of unaccomplished tasks will only lead to frustration and disappointment.
- It is good to talk to friends about your preparation, but discussing your preparation strategy with a counterpart may have negative effects on your preparation. Do not get influenced by what others have accomplished and keep working towards your goal.

In case candidates are not allotted any seat in the second round of the NEET UG counselling, the earlier allotted seat in Round 1 will be retained. However, on up-gradation of a seat in the second round, the earlier allotted seat in Round 1 will automatically be cancelled and allotted to another candidate. Therefore, candidates are advised to fill in only higher choices or any other choice which they prefer over the earlier allotted seat, for second round.
Till last year, candidates were provided N95 masks at the NEET exam centre which was mandatory to be used by candidates. They had to dispose of their own masks before entering the exam centre at the designated bin. However, since the intensity of Covid has reduced as compared to the last two years, this year candidates may not be provided masks at the centre. The information will be confirmed after the release of the NEET admit card. However, it is recommended that they wear face masks for the entire duration. This should be done to ensure their and other test-takers' safety.

Dos and Don’ts for NEET 2026: Exam Day
- Visit the NEET 2026 exam centre a day before the examination. This will save time on the day of the examination, and you can better focus on your exam. It also saves last minute hussle while visiting the NEET exam centre.
- Follow the NEET dress code on the day of the examination. Not following the dress code may lead to losing time.
- Try to reach the exam centre at least an hour before the exam starts. Reaching the exam centre late may cause chaos and confusion.
- Check the pen provided to you on the exam day before the exam starts.
- Keep an eye on the clock. You might end up spending more time on one section if you don’t keep track of time.
- Mark the answers in the OMR sheet carefully.
- Solve the questions that you are confident about first. Come back to those that you feel are difficult/time-consuming in the end.
- Applicants are requested not to sign the NEET admit card in the absence of the invigilators.
- Do not carry any barred items as specified on the admit card or in the NEET 2026 information bulletin.
- Students should not get carried away by what others are doing.
- Do not engage in any conversation with the other students seated in the examination hall.
- Do not take any seat that is not assigned to your roll number.
- Do not waste your time on a question if you do not know the answer. Skip to the next question and come back to the difficult ones after you have completed all the other questions.
