BMLT Courses and Colleges in Durgapur

Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) is a degree course which deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases with the help of laboratory tests. The duration of this course is 3 years and 6 months. BSc Medical Laboratory Technology is similar to the BMLT course. These two are often interchangeably used as the curriculum for both these courses is almost similar. BMLT is the most sought-after paramedical course in West Bengal. A candidate with a BMLT degree will never feel a dearth of jobs in West Bengal. This course provides knowledge and skill that is required to handle sophisticated medical laboratory equipment and perform related tests accurately. BMLT stands for Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology. There are about 29 colleges in West Bengal that offer BMLT course in a full-time mode of study. Out of which,  11 are owned by the Private sector and the rest 7 are owned by the Public sector. After the completion of BMLT, candidates can apply for jobs in a hospital, minor emergency centres, private laboratories, blood banks or clinics. A technician can become a technologist through further education and work experience. BMLT graduates can also pursue a master’s degree to open new career paths. They can choose to pursue MBA in Hospital Administration, to build a career in the administrative field. 

A BMLT graduate can earn up to INR 30,000 per month, depending on the job profile. This may go up to INR 50,000 per month with experience. In West Bengal, BMLT is the paramedical course that is most in demand. In West Bengal, a candidate with a BMLT degree will never experience a labour shortage. Government and private colleges both offer BMLT, but choice depends on your priorities. Government colleges will be cheapest and will likely be regarded more highly when employed in public sector.

No NEET is not a requirement to enter into a BMLT course in India. Most of admissions are based on 12th class marks or some entrance exam taken at institute level.  
Most colleges are open to students who studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology in 12th grade. There are some universities that will have their own tests or interviews, but NEET is not a requirement to take this course in para-medical.
