Consensus over conducting NEET 2021 exam twice from this year
The Ministry apparently took all aspects into consideration and decided to go-ahead with biennial exam mode. There is no official notification pertaining to the exam dates. One of the officials was quoted saying that every aspect including online mode option were discussed in a recently held meeting with the officials of Education Ministry and National Testing Agency (NTA), a nodal body which has been entrusted the responsibility to conduct the engineering and medical competitive exams. There was consensus over conducting exam twice in a year. At the same time officials held the opinion that online mode is not a suitable option for the time being as a large number of NEET aspirants may not be ready for the same.
NEET 2021 two times in a year: What does it mean?
The Health Ministry has in-principle approved the proposal to conduct the exam twice on the lines of JEE(Mains), but there is no official announcement whether first exam would be held in May as usual and second one at the end of year. Another question which crops up that whether students would get enough time gaps to appear in second chance or both the edition would be conducted in consecutive months like JEE Mains. All these speculations will definitely die a natural death once the official announcement comes to the fore. We will provide you all the updates soon once the Ministry provides an official clarification over these points.
Here are some of the advantages of the biennial mode of the exam from students’ perspective:
No wastage of precious year
It has been seen that many a student don’t able to cope up with huge pressure to appear for NEET exam and CBSE Board exam simultaneously which are being held in a small-time gap. They are under tremendous pressure to perform well in both. They either score poor in NEET or take a year gap to prepare for the exam. With new format, students get another chance to score well which helps them save precious year. They don’t have to wait for the next year to improve the score. In addition, if anyone can’t appear for the exam due to any reason, he or she could go for the next round.
Score improvement option
The officials believe that extra chance will help students to prove their mettle in terms of scoring better in NEET exam. The new NEET 2021 pattern will enable them to get ranked on the basis of best of their two scores.
Less Competition
The new NEET 2021 pattern also brings less competition in terms of score. The reason being the number of students appearing for each session under the new format will definitely be less than the current numbers of students appearing for one-time NEET format. So, there is a better chance for a candidate to score well in second attempt as number of students would be lesser in comparison to first attempt. Though everything has its pros and cons, and it applies with new format of the NEET as well. Some parents may force their wards to sit for both the attempts to improve their score, which could add up to the mental pressure.
