ICSI to Commence Registration for Free Capacity Building Programme on Direct Tax; Who Can Apply?
The ICSI capacity building programme will cover a wide range of topics, from the fundamentals of direct taxation to the protocol for appearing before tax officials.
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has announced the commencement of its 'Capacity Building Programme on Direct Tax'. Members and company secretary (CS) students will be able to enhance their skills and knowledge on the crucial domain of direct taxation. Interested candidates must be mindful that the programme is free of cost for attendees and shall be initiated across 15 sessions in an online format.
The training, which is specially made for the ICSI members and students, is designed to provide an in-depth and practical understanding of the Income Tax Act's requirements. The workshops will focus on the practical application of these provisions, with narrations and relevant examples, as well as a special emphasis on case laws to provide a grasp of the present legal landscape.
The education course begins with the basic principles of direct taxation and progresses to the calculation of earnings under all five heads of income over two days. Deductions from gross total income, clubbing and set-off provisions, and the calculation of total income and tax liabilities are all discussed. Topics covered include penalties for noncompliance, submitting income returns, transfer pricing, General Anti-Avoidance Rules (GAAR), and assessment procedures.
The training sessions will also cover procedural compliances and the intricate details of tax auditing, such as applicability, bookkeeping, the role of a tax auditor, the tax audit report, and a thorough review of numerous report clauses.

ICSI CS December 2025 enrollment process for CS Executive and CS Professional programme has commenced on August 26, 2025. Candidates who have already registered for the CS Executive programme/ CS Professional programme can enroll for the programme online. Candidates enrolling after the mentioned date have to pay the late fee of INR 250 per subject. Candidates must ensure to stay updated with the cutoff date of ICSI CS application and enrollment form.
