CBSE Board exam 2026 is going through a major shift to digital evaluation in the answer sheet. As per the new change, the evaluation of Class 12 CBSE board exam 2026 answer sheets will be evaluated on-screen to reduce manual errors, starting with the 2026 board examinations.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that CBSE class 12 answer sheet 2026 will be evaluated digitally. board has introduced on-screen marking for CBSE 12th board answer sheet 2026.
Reportedly, board has told to the principals and heads of all CBSE-affiliated schools that the CBSE board exam answer sheet 2026 will be checked digitally, whereas the checking of Class 10 answer books will remain in physical mode in 2026.
"In its continuous effort to enhance efficiency and transparency, the Board has decided to introduce On-Screen Marking (OSM) for the evaluation of Class 12 answer books beginning with the 2026 examinations. The evaluation of Class 10 answer books will continue in physical mode as before in 2026," the notification reads.
What is On-Screen Marking for CBSE Answer Sheet 2026?
On-Screen Marking (OSM) for the CBSE board exams 2026 is a digital evaluation system where teachers will score scanned copies of CBSE answer sheets on a computer rather than checking physical paper bundles.
Purpose of Shift to On-Screen Marking
The board has clarified that the shift to on-screen marking for the CBSE board exam 2026 answer sheet will:
- Reduce the manual errors while checking the answer sheets.
- Eliminate totalling errors and reduce manual efforts.
- Teachers can check the answer sheet without disrupting regular teaching work.
- Save transportation time and costs of sending booklets to once centre to another.
