CBSE has earlier reduced the syallbus for Classes 9 to 12 as one-time measure for this academic year. In order to help teachers, the Board will be conducting a training programme.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will be conducting a training programme for school principals and teachers on the 'Alternative Academic Calendar'. The Calendar which was released by NCERT in April and later was Revised. On July 7, considering the coronavirus situation in the country, the NCERT has released a 'Revised Alternative Academic Calendar' to be followed by schools for this academic year. The Revised Academic Calendar was released by NCERT after rationalising the syllabus by 30 percent. As a one-time measure, the CBSE removed topics from about 190 subjects of Class 9 to 12.

However, the Board cleared that the topics which have been removed from the subjects will still be taught in the class to the capacity required in order to help students understand related chapters, however, in final exams no question will be asked from the topics which have been removed.

The orientation for the training programme will be conducted on July 17. CBSE Chairman Manoj Ahuja and NCERT Director Dr. Hrushikesh Senapaty will be giving a special address and interact with the principals participating in the programme. The programme will be live streamed.

"The objective is to reduce the examination stress of students due to the prevailing health emergency situation and prevent learning gaps, "CBSE said.

With schools closed and lack of face-to-face interaction, educators may face challenges in achieving the desired learning outcomes. The rationalized topics are to be covered using various strategies mentioned in the Alternative Academic Calendar. These include the use of various social media apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, video services like YouTube, and use of blogs to conduct activities suggested by NCERT.

Meanwhile, the Board is all set to announce the CBSE 10th results 2020 and CBSE 12th results 2020. It is expected that the reduction in CBSE Syllabus 2021 will affect the Paper Pattern, evaluation and assessment strategy for CBSE 10th results and CBSE 12th Results for the upcoming year.

After CBSE, many other state boards in the country like Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat have also decided to reduce the syllabus for the students studying in classes 9 to 12 for this academic year.
