Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister informed that DBSE will discourage rote-learning, bring continuous formative assessments and promote growth mindsets in students.

Delhi Board of School Education’s (DBSE) general body held the first meeting on March 31 in which matters regarding the registration and the constitution of the board were discussed.

“The agenda of the first meeting included appraisal regarding the registration of the DBSE under the Society Registration Act, 1860, the constitution of the DBSE and its functioning from the academic session 2021-22, and the appraisal of the members/nominated members of the general body of the Board,” it said.

According to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, “DBSE will discourage rote-learning, bring continuous formative assessments and promote growth mindsets in students.” He further said that the purpose of DBSE is three-fold. First, the Board will move away from the practice of rote-learning and move towards giving a holistic picture of each learner, which goes beyond scholastic ability in subjects to include values and skills required in the future such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration. Secondly, it will emphasize on continuous formative assessments. And third, it will encourage a growth mindset among students, which would be strengthened by making it a part of regular assessment.

“The main aim of setting up the board is that the assessment system should become a ‘Partner of Learning and not an Authority of Testing’, he added. It will empower teachers to achieve their full potential by giving them ‘timely feedback on specific actions they take to help every child in their classroom’.

The Delhi Cabinet had approved the setting up of the DBSE on March 6, following which the society for the Board was registered on March 19.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has ordered all schools to not call any student in the new academic session 2021-22 until any further orders.

Ask your friends or teacher

Plus, last year when the covid came, with only 100 cases in all over India, the upper heads announced a strict lockdown in the whole country. Now,when only Maharashtra has reached the peak of it,i.e, has increased to more than a lakh, there is no lockdown.

Government don't know the meaning of life for children nothing happens if u cancel board exam its not a big deal

It is better to postpone the exams as much as the authorities can or until this pandemic is fully gone. We can't study properly because of different decisions as to whether it will be online or offline or no exams or postponement. It is very disturbing if you see it from the student's perspective.
