State’s Education Department will be conducting Mock Tests on July 15 and July 17. The Karnataka 10th Exam will be conducted from July 19 to July 22.
Karnataka SSLC exams 2021: The Karnataka High Court has dismissed the plea demanding the cancellation of the Karnataka 10th Board Exams 2021 across the state. The Karnataka Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exam 2021 is scheduled to be conducted from July 19 to July 22.
State’s Education Department will be conducting Mock Tests on July 15 and July 17. Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar had announced earlier that the mock drill would be conducted to ensure the arrangements are in place at the designated exam centres.
The Court said, "AG states that said guidelines have been incorporated in the SOPs. Therefore we find that state has issued a circular to comply with SOP. Moreover, the petitioner has not been able to point out the decision of the State to conduct the exam is arbitrary or the same interferes with right of students." Hence, the Court did not find any merit in the matter and the petition was dismissed. The High Court while passing orders, observed that the state took the decision to postpone the SSLC exam and never canceled it. On receiving the opinion of the expert committee, the examination is being held.
The Karanataka HC noted that unlike the Karnataka 2nd PUC or Class 12 exams, there wasn’t any data to evaluate the Karnataka Class 10 students. The Karnataka Class 12 board exams have been cancelled in the state and the students have been evaluated based on their marks in Class 10 and First PUC or Class 11. The High Court also observed that no student will be forced to attend exams either by State or by parents and it would be a collective decision of the students and parents.
The petition has been filed by S V Singre Gowda. It states that Children are battling with regard to studies online and it is highly impossible to understand the subject in online classes. Further, only some of the institutions might have conducted online classes and in and around Karnataka especially in rural areas there is no such facility, and in some areas not even a single class has been conducted. Therefore, the conducting of examinations for the SSLC in these circumstances is bad and necessary directions need to be issued to the respondents to stop the examinations immediately.
Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar while announcing the decision to go ahead with the Karnataka Class 10 board exam earlier said that multi-choice objective type questions would be asked in the Secondary School Leaving Certification exam scheduled for July 19 and July 22. The Karnataka Class 10 exam will be held in just two days from 10:20 am to 1:30 pm.
The core subject exams such as mathematics, Social Science and Science will be held on July 19 and the language subject exams will take place on July 22, the minister told reporters.
A sample paper has been uploaded on the official website and it will also be sent to all schools so students can be prepared on how best to write the exam. Kumar said the SSLC exams were necessary for students to select their stream.
