IIM Indore inaugurates MDP for Senior Officials of Iraq

A select cohort of 18 accomplished senior officials from Iraq will embark on a comprehensive thirteen-day module, immersing themselves in a dynamic learning environment and fostering valuable cross-cultural exchanges.

IIM Indore commenced a transformative Customized Management Development Programme (MDP) for a distinguished group of senior officials from Iraq. This unique initiative, conducted in collaboration with ITEC, the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, aims to empower the Iraqi delegation with cutting-edge management insights and strategic leadership skills, the institute said.

Thirteen-day module, dynamic learning environment, valuable cross-cultural exchanges

The programme was inaugurated by Professor Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore. Professor Subin Sudhir, Chair – Executive Education, was also present on occasion. A select cohort of 18 accomplished senior officials from Iraq will embark on a comprehensive thirteen-day module, immersing themselves in a dynamic learning environment and fostering valuable cross-cultural exchanges. The first day also witnessed a session on Leadership Communication by Professor Rai. Makrand Deouskar, IPS, Commissioner of Police Indore, also shared his insights on grievance management and redressal, reflecting the Indian ethos of justice and fairness.

The programme will witness various sessions in the coming days. Divyank Singh, IAS, CEO of Smart City Indore, will delve into the realm of Smart Cities and Infrastructure Development, showcasing India's progressive approach to urban planning and technological advancements. Harshika Singh, IAS, IMC Commissioner, will guide the officials through the Swachh Bharat Mission, a symbol of India's commitment to cleanliness and sanitation. Additionally, Kaushal Raj Sharma, IAS, Divisional Commissioner Varanasi, will shed light on crisis management, highlighting India's resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges.

Throughout the programme, the officials will immerse themselves in a tapestry of topics that showcase India's vibrant culture and the country's strides in various domains. From exploring the transformative power of Public Private Partnerships under the guidance of Prof. Swapnil Garg, IIM Indore, to understanding the significance of water resources and the Water Mission with Sanjay Shukla, IAS, the officials will witness India's commitment to sustainable development. The module will also provide a unique opportunity for the officials to engage with Indian government representatives, strengthening the bilateral ties between Iraq and India.

They will meet Madhya Pradesh government officials in Bhopal, fostering valuable cross-cultural exchanges and deepening their understanding of governance and administration. The officials will also delve into innovation in agriculture with Raj Shekhar, IAS, Secretary of Agriculture, experiencing the connection between India's agrarian roots and its pursuit of modern agricultural practices. The programme will also explore the facets of social justice and welfare with Shri Asim Arun, Minister of Social Welfare, illuminating the officials on India's commitment to inclusive growth.

Officials to visit Agra, Taj Mahal

The 13-day MDP will further extend beyond the realms of management education, as the officials travel to Delhi and visit the enchanting city of Agra, home to the magnificent Taj Mahal. This cultural expedition will allow them to witness the grandeur of Indian heritage and experience the deep-rooted connections between history, architecture, and the nation's soul.

In Delhi, the officials will delve into the Digital India Mission with Abhishek Singh, IAS, President & CEO of the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), gaining insights into India's digital revolution and the power of technology in governance. V. Srinivas, IAS, Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), will shed light on e-governance implementation and policy review, reflecting India's commitment to transparency and citizen-centric governance. The programme will conclude with a session on public health delivery in India, led by Anjali Rawat, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, showcasing India's efforts in healthcare innovation and public welfare. This immersive programme aims to not only enrich the officials' management acumen but also foster a deep appreciation for India's culture, values, and enduring partnership with Iraq.

The eighteen high-ranking officials represent diverse departments of the Iraqi Ministry. These include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister's Office, the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Defence, the Supreme National Commission for Accountability and Justice, the Federal Commission of Integrity, the Supreme Judiciary Council, the Iraqi National Security Service, the Martyrs' Foundation, the Ministry of Interior, the Communications & Media Commission, and the Ministry of Electricity. This diverse group of officials brings together expertise and perspectives from various domains, enriching the learning experience and fostering fruitful exchanges on matters related to management, governance, and strategic leadership. The programme serves as a platform for these officials to further strengthen their connections with India, explore cultural synergies, and forge lasting collaborations that will contribute to the growth and development of both nations.
