Scholarship Up to ₹15,000 Per Month, Applications Open from March 1

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced the revised guidelines for the Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) for the academic year 2025-26. The programme, initiated in 1970, aims to enhance the qualifications and research capabilities of faculty members at AICTE-approved degree and diploma-level institutions across India.

Programme Overview

The QIP is exclusively available for sponsored faculty members, enabling them to pursue higher education through Master’s and Ph.D. programmes at premier institutes. The initiative seeks to foster a culture of research and improve teaching standards.

Eligibility and Categories

The programme covers two categories:

Master’s Degree (M.E./M.Tech.): Open to full-time, permanent faculty members of AICTE-approved polytechnic institutes with at least one year of teaching experience and a relevant bachelor's degree.

Ph.D. in Engineering/Management: Open to faculty members from AICTE-approved degree and diploma-level institutions with a minimum of three years of teaching experience and a master's degree in the relevant field.

Duration of the Programme

Master’s Degree: Two years (no extension allowed).

Ph.D.: Three years, with limited scope for extension subject to AICTE approval.

Scholarship and Financial Assistance

AICTE will provide financial support to selected scholars:

For M.E./M.Tech.: ₹9,000 per month and an annual contingency of ₹5,000.

For Ph.D.: ₹15,000 per month, ₹15,000 annual contingency, and a one-time pre-Ph.D. expense of up to ₹45,000 (covering travel and daily allowances for offline coursework).

Application Process and Important Dates

Interested candidates can apply online at https://qip.aicte.gov.in/ from March 1, 2025. The application deadline is March 31, 2025, with results expected by May 15, 2025. The academic sessions for selected candidates will commence from June 15, 2025, for Master’s programmes and later for Ph.D. programmes.

Application Fee: ₹1,700 for General/OBC candidates and ₹850 for SC/ST/PwD/Female candidates.

National QIP Coordination Committee (NQCC)

The QIP is managed by a committee consisting of representatives from leading institutions, including IITs (Guwahati, Kharagpur, Madras, Bombay, Kanpur, Roorkee, BHU, Delhi), IISc Bangalore, IIM Nagpur, and AICTE officials. The committee is responsible for finalizing admissions, recommending candidates, and reviewing new QIP centre proposals.

Scholars receiving external financial aid (except salary) will not be eligible for AICTE scholarships.

The scholarship will be discontinued for academic misconduct, poor attendance, or if the candidate withdraws from the programme.

Leave provisions include 15 days of casual leave, up to 30 days of medical leave per year, and maternity/paternity leave as per government norms.

This initiative by AICTE is expected to significantly enhance faculty development, research engagement, and teaching excellence in technical education institutions across India.
