The review follows feedback that recent JEE and NEET papers were tougher than earlier years, especially in Physics

The Ministry of Education has set up a nine-member panel to review whether entrance exams like JEE and NEET are aligned with Class 12 curriculum and to address concerns about increasing dependency on coaching.

The panel is headed by Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi. It includes CBSE Chairman, representatives from NCERT, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, NIT Trichy, and principals from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya and a private school. Joint secretaries from both school and higher education departments are also members.

As per reports, the committee will study whether the difficulty level of questions corresponds with NCERT syllabus expectations and if questions going beyond Class 12 curriculum have led to coaching dependence. It will also review the role of dummy schools, gaps in classroom learning, and the effect of limited counselling on students’ preparedness.

The review follows feedback that recent JEE and NEET papers were tougher than earlier years, especially in Physics, which many students and parents said created disadvantages for those without access to coaching.

The panel has been asked to examine such concerns and suggest measures to ensure fairness. The Ministry has fixed timeline for the submission of the panel’s report, however it is likely to be out upcoming exam season. Any changes recommended will have implications on next year’s JEE Main 2026 and NEET UG 2026 papers.

Q:   Is one month sufficient for JEE Main preparation?
A:
One month is not sufficient for JEE Main preparation if a student has not started preparing or have not studied earlier for the exam. As the syllabus of JEE Main is vast, studying all the topics and remembering them take a lot of effort. However, class 12 student can get a decent score in JEE Main if time after the bard exam is devoted exclusively for the JEE preparation. Since most topics of JEE Main and class 12 are similar, students need to revise all the topics and solve previous year JEE Main question papers. Start solving JEE Main mock test papers at last 3-4 days before the exam to make yourself comfortable with the exam.
Q:   It is possible to crack NEET exam without coaching?
A:

I will not say, it is impossible. It is possible, but you have work very hard and must give your 200% effort to crack these competitive exams. In my opinion, it is better to take coaching for NEET exam. Coaching makes your exam preparation easier. Sometimes, if you get lots of doubt then you can get it cleared by your tutor who has got the subject knowledge.

Students get individual attention at coaching institutes and they focus on learning and development of students as per their requirement. Coaching centers also teach you a lot of tips, tricks and time management that help you to crack NEET exam. But, you have to be careful in choosing a right and resourceful coaching center, as there are many fraud coaching centers that works for money and not for delivering knowledge to the students.
