GATE 2025 Application Form Live Updates: (Postponed to Aug 28), Check dates, eligibility, fees, and more

The GATE Enrollment ID is the registration number created after completing the pre-registration process on the GOAPS portal. The GATE GOAPS portal will be activated on August 28, 2024, to conduct the GATE 2025 registration process. Earlier, the GATE registration was supposed to start on August 24, 2024, but the GATE authorities postponed it. 

The GATE 2025 counselling process consists of three regular rounds, two special rounds (SR), and a national spot round (NSR). CCMT conducts the process from June to July in six rounds. Candidates will be given four seat choices: Float, Slide, Freeze, and Surrender (Participate in the next round).

• Float: Retaining choices of previous rounds & willing to opt for better options in further rounds. 
• Slide: Retaining choices of previous rounds of the same institute & willing to opt for better options in further rounds. 
• Freeze: No change in Seat Allotment. However, willing to opt for category upgradation. 
• Surrender (Participate in the next round): No claim on the surrendered seat in further rounds & willing to opt for the better opportunity.

GATE offers financial assistance to GATE-qualified students (M.Tech and PhD). GATE-qualified candidates can also avail themselves of financial assistance through a monthly stipend of 12400 through GATE counselling. 

The last date to submit the GATE application form without a late fee is September 26, 2024. The last date to complete GATE 2025 registrations with late fees is October 7, 2024. The application must be submitted online. The GOAPS portal will commence the registration process on August 28, 2024. 

The passing marks in the GATE exam differ for each of the 30 papers. Candidates appearing in any GATE paper have to obtain the minimum mark to be declared qualified for the exam. 

The marking scheme for papers AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH and XL is as follows -

• General Aptitude: 15 Marks
• Subject Questions: 85 Marks
• Total marks: 100 Marks

There is a negative marking for MCQ questions. There are no negative markings for NAT and MSQ-based questions. 

IIT Roorkee is conducting GATE 2025. The exam will take place on Feb 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025 in two sessions. 

Candidates have to provide the following details while filling out the application form -

• For registration -name, email address, country of residence, mobile number, password, and captcha
• Exam details- GATE test paper, choice of examination city, GATE exam centres

• Qualifying degree details- institute registration/roll ID, qualifying degree, discipline, year of qualifying degree, state, city, name of the college/university, and pin code.
• Documents - photograph, signature, and required certificates (if any)

Candidates can download the GATE question papers from the previous year’s GATE official website—gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The GATE question paper is available year-wise in PDF format.

The application fees for the GATE 2025 registration form for international students are as follows - 

• Application fees (before the due date - September 26, 2024) - INR 1800 per test paper
• Application fees (after the due date- October 7, 2024) - INR 2300 per test paper

The GATE 2025 educational qualification eligibility is as follows -

• Candidates currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree programme or have completed any government-approved degree programme in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Architecture/ Humanities.
• Candidates with certification from any professional societies listed below are also eligible to apply for GATE. However, they must ensure that those examinations are approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/ UPSC as equivalent to B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch./ B.Planning, etc. 
• The Institution of Engineers (India) (IE)
• The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
• The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)
• The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI)
• The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, including Polymer and Environmental Group (IIChE)
• The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM)
• The Indian Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIIE)

• Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India are also eligible. All such candidates must be in the 3rd or higher years or have completed their Bachelor’s degree (of at least three years) in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Architecture/ Humanities. 

No, candidates don’t have to send a physical copy of the application confirmation page to authorities. IIT Roorkee will conduct the GATE admission online only.

Last year (2024), around 8.2 lakh candidates registered for GATE 2024, out of which only 6.5 candidates appeared for the exam. The cutoff marks for CS were released for each category, which are as follows-

• Pay the application fees and submit the application form
• Keep a copy of the application form for future purposes. 

If there is any discrepancy, you will be sent an SMS and e-mail to inform you. You can always login to GOAPS to print your application form.  

Fee payment for the GATE registration form 2025 can be made through the GATE GOAPS portal. The portal will open on August 28, 2024, and remain active until October 7, 2024, for application form filling. 

IIT Roorkee has postponed the GATE application form release dates. Registration for GATE 2025 will commence on August 28, 2024. However, the time for the GATE application release is not yet announced. The application window (GOAPS Portal) will be active on August 28, 2024. The last date to submit the application form without a late fee is September 26, 2024, and October 7, 2024 (with a late fee of INR 500).

There are no international exam centres for the GATE 2025 examination. Interested foreign or Indian nationals must travel to India to appear for the exam. Registrations for GATE 2025 have been postponed. The revised date for the GATE application form 2025 is August 28, 2024. Earlier, the application form was scheduled to release on August 24, 2024. 

The signature must follow the specifications mentioned below 

• The signature must be in JPEG/JPG format, with aspect ratio, height: width = 1.0:A (where A can be between 3.25 to 3.75)
• The candidate’s signature must be in black or dark blue ink
• The ideal file size must be between 5 kb - 200 kb
• The maximum size for the signature can be 160 x 560 pixels and the minimum size is 80 x 280 in pixels.
• If the candidate’s signature varies during the examination, he/she will be declared disqualified.

Candidates must upload a photograph at GOAPS while filling out the GATE exam form. The photograph submitted must follow the required specifications, which are - 

• Good quality, recent, and colour photograph of passport size (3.5 cm width x 4.5 cm height) with face covering 60 to 70% of the photograph
• The photograph must have a white background.
• The candidate’s face must be facing directly to the camera. It should not be covered with goggles, hats, caps, etc.
• The image must be in JPG/JPEG format, with an aspect size ratio between 0.66 to 0.89
• The minimum file size of the photograph must be between 5 kb to 1 MB.
• The maximum pixel resolution is 530 x 690 pixels, and the minimum pixel resolution is 200 x 260 pixels.
• Any object or shadow should not cover the main features of the face.

The GATE authorities have not officially announced any revised exam dates for the GATE 2025 exam yet. However, the application forms will now be released on August 28, 2024. 

IIT Roorkee has postponed the application form registration dates. The form will now be available on August 28, 2024. However, there are no other changes in the GATE 2025 dates.

A valid GATE score can be used for seeking admission to -

• Master’s programs/doctoral programs in engineering/science/technology/science/commerce/arts/humanities
• Doctoral programs in relevant disciplines in the institutions supported by the MoE and other government agencies.

Financial assistance is also given to M.tech and PhD students monthly as a PG Scholarship.

One can appear for the GATE examination any number of times.

Candidates with scribes can avail themselves a compensatory time of one hour extra (20 minutes per hour of examination) at a stretch for the three-hour GATE 2025 examination. On the other hand, PwD or Dyslexic candidates with scribes can avail a compensatory time of 60 minutes. No of-spot request for a scribe is accepted.

Scribe facility is available to PwD candidates with a benchmark disability (not less than 40% disability) and those who face writing difficulty. Scribe will be provided only after the PwD certificate is submitted.

Once the GATE application process is completed, the GATE conducting authorities open the application form correction facility. The GATE online form correction window will open on November 6, 2024. Candidates can modify the following details -

• PwD category, and more

However, candidates will be charged a certain amount as a correction/modification fee. For example, to add a second paper, the candidate has to pay an additional INR 500+ application fee for the 2nd paper.

GATE is a prestigious competitive exam that is conducted by top institutes like, IITs, NITs, and IIITs. Every year, lakhs of candidates register for the exam, out of which only a few of them managed to get admission in the top institutes. However, if you prepare well and stay motivated, then you might be the next one. Here are some GATE preparation tips that can help you get well-prepared for the exam-

• Understand the GATE exam pattern and syllabus. Jot down or memorise it, and circle the difficult topics or subjects. 
• Keep a timeframe when preparing for GATE. For example, keep a target of completing the topics that carry maximum weightage within three months. In this way, you will stay motivated and confident about your preparation levels.
• Make notes of everything for the last-minute rush. Keep a formula handbook for quick revision.
• Analyse your performance after every topic is completed. Mark down the errors. 
• Give importance to textbooks. Try to follow limited reference books.
• Take mock tests at least twice a week. Increase the frequency when you are close to the exam.
• Practice GATE previous year's question papers to understand the difficulty level of the exam.
• Keep a record of errors you make while attempting a question. This will help you analyse your performance and weak spots. 
• Reserve at least 1.5 months solely for revision. Revise as much as possible to keep the preparation rhythm going.
• Apart from this busy schedule, try taking short naps, maintaining a healthy diet, and performing some physical activities or brain exercises, like meditation, to stay active.

GATE 2025 hall ticket will be released on January 2, 2024. Candidates who have successfully submitted the application form can download the admit card. The GATE admit card 2025 can be downloaded from the GOAPS portal. Candidates have to provide their login credentials - registration ID and password.

A candidate can choose three cities from the GATE 2025 examination cities list. All three choices must be from the same GATE 2025 zone. However, if a candidate chooses a particular city as the first choice, he/she must choose the second and third choices from the same zone.

• Select the GATE application form link from the website
• Click on “New Candidate Registration”
• Register by entering your full name, mobile number, and valid e-mail ID
• Upon successful registration, an enrollment ID is generated
• Create a password and log in using the credentials
• Fill in the required details, such as personal, educational, and communication details and proceed to upload the documents
• Upload your photograph, signature, and certificates (as per the specifications)
• Once the form-filling process is done, you will be redirected to the payment portal page
• Make the payment of the application fee
• Confirm the declaration statement and submit the form

Make sure that you provide the correct details. Recheck all the information provided before submitting. Keep a copy of the GATE application form for future purposes.

Every GATE question paper has 65 questions. The total mark for GATE 2025 is 100, out of which ten questions of 15 marks comes from General Aptitude. 

• The General Aptitude questions test the candidate's analytical and language skills. 
• For test papers (AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, ES, GE, IN, ME, MN, MT, NM, PE, PI, and TF), the General Aptitude section carries 15 marks, and the remaining 85 marks are allocated for subject-based questions, out of which Engineering Mathematics carries 13 marks. 
• XE has a common and compulsory section, namely XE-A (Engineering Mathematics), which comprises 15 marks. 
• For test papers, AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL, the General Aptitude section carries 15 marks, and the remaining 85 marks are dedicated to the subject component. 
• Each question may carry one or two marks, respectively.
• There is also negative marking for wrong answers. For a one-mark MCQ, a 1/3 mark is deducted for an incorrect answer. On the other hand, for a two-mark MCQ, a 2/3 mark is deducted for the wrong answer. 
• There is no negative marking for MSQ and NAT-type questions.

The GATE GOAPS registration portal will remain active from August 24, 2024, to October 7, 2024. 

Candidates applying by September 26, 2024, will not be charged with late fees. However, candidates applying after the due date (October 7, 2024) will be charged a late fee of INR 500.

Candidates from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Singapore, and the UAE (the United Arab Emirates) are eligible to apply. However, there are no international centres for the GATE 2025 examinations. Foreign nationals or Indian citizens must travel to India to appear for the test.

The GATE syllabus covers three sections: general aptitude, engineering mathematics, and a subject-specific syllabus (depending on the discipline chosen).

The GATE 2025 two-paper concept allows candidates to select two subjects instead of one. Candidates must choose two subjects from the list of combinations approved by the GATE authorities. Opting for two-paper combinations in GATE enhances students' skills and knowledge, improving their chances of acceptance into engineering. In the GATE second paper concept, the primary paper is related to the candidate’s undergraduate discipline. On the other hand, the secondary paper allows candidate to apply their knowledge in the related field. 

GOAPS stands for Gate Online Application Processing System, which is the official online portal for GATE 2025 registrations. With this interface, candidates can perform the following activities -

• Filling out the application form
• Uploading photograph, signature, and other documents, such as category certificate, dyslexic certificate, and more.
• Payment of GATE application fees
• Checking application status
• Downloading GATE admit card
• Viewing answers responses, marks, and GATE scores
• Downloading GATE 2025 scorecard

Candidates appearing for the GATE 2025 examination must be aware of the criteria imposed by the GATE authorities. Considering academic eligibility, candidates who have acquired an undergraduate degree in the following are eligible for applying in the GATE 2025 -

• B.E or B.Tech
• B.Pharma
• B.Arch
• BSc (research) or BS
• Professional Society Examination (equivalent to BE/B.Tech/B.Arch)
• MSc/MA/MCA or equivalent
• Integrated M.Tech or ME

Candidates who are appearing in the third or final year are also eligible for the GATE exam. Also, there is no minimum qualifying percentage for the exam.

The GATE 2025 is a computer-based test conducted for 30 subjects in different parts of India. The duration of the GATE exam is three hours, comprising 65 questions for 100 marks. 

The GATE question paper 2025 comprises questions in the following format -

• Multiple Choice Question (MCQ), one out of four options is correct
• Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), where multiple options out of four are correct
• Numerical Answers Type (NAT, where the answer must be keyed using a virtual keypad

Here are some important details that candidates must know before applying for GATE 2025 -

• IIT Roorkee is the conducting body for GATE 2025
• The GATE 2025 will be conducted for 30 subjects, referred to as test papers.
• The mode of the examination is online (Computer-Based Test)
• Candidates can appear in one or two test papers of the GATE examination
• The GATE will be conducted in multiple sessions. However, candidates have to appear for the examination in only one of the multiple sessions of the same paper
• Candidates have to register for GATE online. Only one application form is accepted per candidate. 

The GATE scorecard is valid for three years. Candidates can use their test scores to apply for admission to various IITs, NITs, and other prestigious colleges. A valid GATE scorecard can also be used to apply for PSU jobs. Candidates can download the GATE scorecard from the official website (GOAPS portal) using their login credentials: registration number and password.

No specific age limit is imposed for students who want to apply for the GATE exam. However, candidates must be Indian nationals. International students meeting the required educational qualifications can also apply.

IIT Roorkee has announced the GATE 2025 examination dates. The GATE will be conducted in two sessions (forenoon and afternoon) on Feb 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. The timings for the GATE examination 2025 are 9:30 am to 12:30 pm for the morning session and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm for the afternoon session.

Qualifying GATE is mandatory for candidates seeking admission to master’s/doctorate programs in engineering, technology, architecture, etc., at top institutions such as IITs and NITs. Many PSUs, such as GAIL, NTPC, etc., and State Electricity Boards (SEBs) accept GATE scores to recruit trainee engineers and scientists for Group-C-level posts.

GATE (Gratitude Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national-level examination conducted nationwide jointly by IISc and seven IITs on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB), Ministry of Education (MoE), and Government of India (GoI). The first GATE exam was conducted in 1983 by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru. The GATE is considered one of the most reputed exams in India, testing aspirants' knowledge in engineering, technology, and science.

IIT Roorkee released the GATE 2025 information brochure on August 16, 2024. The brochure covers information about the GATE exam dates, application form, eligibility, fees, exam pattern, syllabus, document specifications, results, and GATE scorecard.

GATE 2025 Application Form will be released anytime tomorrow (Aug 24, 2024). This year, IIT Roorkee is conducting the GATE exam. The GATE 2025 website - gate2025.iitr.ac.in has been created, and the GOAPS portal will be active soon.
