GATE 2025 Application Form Live Updates: IIT Roorkee has postponed the GATE 2025 application form from August 24, 2024 to August 28, 2024 on its official website: gate2025.iitr.ac.in. No other dates are modified till now. Application window will remain active till September 26, 2024 (without late fees) and October 7, 2024 (with late fees). The GATE is conducted yearly to test students' comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects, such as engineering, technology, architecture, science, arts, and humanities. Last year, around 8.5 lakh students had registered for the GATE examination.
IIT Roorkee GATE 2025 Application Mode
Registration for GATE 2025 will take place online. Candidates must provide their name, date of birth, mobile number, and other information to apply for the exam.
GATE 2025 Application Form and Exam Dates
The GATE GOAPS application window will remain active from August 28, 2024, to September 26, 2024. Candidates can submit the application form within this time frame without any late fee charges. Later, an additional fee of INR 500 is included if the candidate submits the application form by October 7, 2024.
The GATE 2025 exam will be held in two sessions on February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025.

The GATE Enrollment ID is the registration number created after completing the pre-registration process on the GOAPS portal. What are the options offered by GATE during counselling rounds?
The GATE 2025 counselling process consists of three regular rounds, two special rounds (SR), and a national spot round (NSR). CCMT conducts the process from June to July in six rounds. Candidates will be given four seat choices: Float, Slide, Freeze, and Surrender (Participate in the next round).
- Float: Retaining choices of previous rounds & willing to opt for better options in further rounds.
- Slide: Retaining choices of previous rounds of the same institute & willing to opt for better options in further rounds.
- Freeze: No change in Seat Allotment. However, willing to opt for category upgradation.

GATE 2025 Signature Specifications
The signature must follow the specifications mentioned below
- The signature must be in JPEG/JPG format, with aspect ratio, height: width = 1.0:A (where A can be between 3.25 to 3.75)
- The candidate’s signature must be in black or dark blue ink
- The ideal file size must be between 5 kb - 200 kb
- The maximum size for the signature can be 160 x 560 pixels and the minimum size is 80 x 280 in pixels.
- If the candidate’s signature varies during the examination, he/she will be declared disqualified.

GATE 2025 Photograph Specifications
Candidates must upload a photograph at GOAPS while filling out the GATE exam form. The photograph submitted must follow the required specifications, which are -
- Good quality, recent, and colour photograph of passport size (3.5 cm width x 4.5 cm height) with face covering 60 to 70% of the photograph
- The photograph must have a white background.
- The candidate’s face must be facing directly to the camera. It should not be covered with goggles, hats, caps, etc.
- The image must be in JPG/JPEG format, with an aspect size ratio between 0.66 to 0.89
- The minimum file size of the photograph must be between 5 kb to 1 MB.
- The maximum pixel resolution is 530 x 690 pixels, and the minimum pixel resolution is 200 x 260 pixels.
- Any object or shadow should not cover the main features of the face.

GATE 2025 Marking Scheme
Every GATE question paper has 65 questions. The total mark for GATE 2025 is 100, out of which ten questions of 15 marks comes from General Aptitude.
- The General Aptitude questions test the candidate's analytical and language skills.
- For test papers (AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, ES, GE, IN, ME, MN, MT, NM, PE, PI, and TF), the General Aptitude section carries 15 marks, and the remaining 85 marks are allocated for subject-based questions, out of which Engineering Mathematics carries 13 marks.
- XE has a common and compulsory section, namely XE-A (Engineering Mathematics), which comprises 15 marks.
- For test papers, AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST, XH, and XL, the General Aptitude section carries 15 marks, and the remaining 85 marks are dedicated to the subject component.
- Each question may carry one or two marks, respectively.
- There is also negative marking for wrong answers. For a one-mark MCQ, a 1/3 mark is deducted for an incorrect answer. On the other hand, for a two-mark MCQ, a 2/3 mark is deducted for the wrong answer.
- There is no negative marking for MSQ and NAT-type questions.
