While speaking to the media, IIT Delhi Director V Ramgopal Rao said this is for the first time the institution is considering taking students through an alternative route.

IIT Delhi Admissions 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is mulling to give admission to design courses without JEE advance. Students interested in IIT Delhi admissions 2021 must note that they can apply for design programmes without appearing for the JEE Advanced examinations from this year onwards. Reports suggest that a decision on the same will soon be taken by the decision making body of the institution. While speaking to the media, IIT Delhi Director V Ramgopal Rao said this is for the first time the institution is considering taking students through an alternative route.

Following this, the director stated that the department of design is related to creativity and does not require analytical skills. Rao added that Bachelors of Design is not related to maths, physics, chemistry and other subjects and with exams such as All India Entrance Examination for Design - AIEED being conducted to test the creative ability of the students it is being considered by the institution senate to do with entrance exams for design courses.

According to the director, A masters programme is being started by the new centre for Public Policy and in the 2020-21 academic session, the institution started a masters in Economics for which separate entrance exams are conducted. IIT Delhi conducts its own entrance examination for the master's programme.
