IIT Kanpur Hosts Expert-Led Workshop to Raise Awareness on Cognitive Challenges
IIT Kanpur is fostering awareness on cognitive challenges by organizing an expert-led workshop, bringing together specialists to share insights and solutions.
IIT Kanpur played a key role in a workshop held at Vallabh Vidyapith Balika Inter College, Varanasi, aimed at raising awareness about cognitive challenges and innovative solutions. The workshop brought together experts, educators, and stakeholders to discuss the latest advancements in cognitive research, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges and interventions needed to support cognitive well-being.
Prof. Braj Bhushan, a cognitive science expert from IIT Kanpur and Co-founder & Director of Cute Brains, led the session with an in-depth discussion on dyslexia and dysgraphia. He shed light on the cognitive challenges children with these conditions face and showcased the transformative potential of the Assistive Application for Children with Dyslexia and Dysgraphia (AACDD). This innovative digital tool is designed to aid pre-primary school children, enhancing their learning experience through targeted support and intervention.
Talking at the event, Prof. Braj Bhushan from IIT Kanpur said, "The Assistive Application for Children with Dyslexia and Dysgraphia (AACDD) is a training module for school children in classes 1 to 5 with dyslexia and dysgraphia. It integrates visual, auditory, and haptic feedback to aid the acquisition and reproduction of Hindi letters. Developed as a touchscreen-based assistive tool, it enables reading through auditory feedback and supports learning Hindi word patterns. With three levels—tracing, jigsaw puzzles, and word writing—it helps enhance reading and writing skills in Hindi-speaking children."
Organised by Cute Brains Pvt. Ltd., the event was supported by IVY Cap Securities and the Foundation for Innovation & Research in Science & Technology (FIRST). Dr. Mukta Pandey, Principal of Vallabh Vidyapith Balika Inter College, warmly welcomed the participants, while Prof. Anita Singh, Head of the Education Department at Harishchandra PG College, honoured attendees by presenting certificates of participation.
