JEE Main 2020: Admission criteria for NITs and CFTIs relaxed, only pass marks in class 12 required,says HRD Minister
On Thursday, The Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal has made an important announcement for all JEE Main 2020 aspirants. He shared through a tweet that for admissions into the NITs & other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), candidates will now only need to obtain a passing certificate of class XII examination or equivalent irrespective of the marks obtained. The HRD Minister said, " Due to prevailing circumstances, Central Seat Allocation Board (#CSAB) has decided to relax the eligibility criterion for admissions to NITs and other #CFTIs".
This major step has been taken keeping in mind the current COVID-19 situation in the country.
According to the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2020, apart from qualifying JEE Main examination, the eligibility criteria were to secure a minimum of 75% marks in Class 12 board exams or rank among the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examinations. But now candidates have to only show their passing certificate and qualify the JEE Main 2020 examination.
The above decision has been taken after discussion with Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).

Earlier, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2020, has been postponed twice, which will now be held from September 1-6. In online mode.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the HRD Minister had tweeted that National Testing Agency (NTA) will ensure Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains and NDA exam dates don't clash for students appearing in both of these exams. This year, the Ministry is taking every step to ensure the smooth running of the exams keeping in mind the current scenario of the country.
